Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

I really get a kick out of people that use the terms, TDS, snow flake or fake news. Most of the time they are the same folks that used to scream out "getter done" back in the day.

I judge. :p
The voices in your head be tripping homes.

TDS is an ignorant term. The President is giving us opinions on whether Taylor Swift is still hot. FFS, deliver on your promises such as will end the Ukraine conflict on Day 1 (or is that TDS to hold someone accountable for boasts?). Saying "was in jest" does not cut it. The man gave his word. A man giving his word used to matter. Or, is that TDS?

I would be embarrassed to hear Grandpa say a young lady is no longer hot. Why would we not be embarrassed to hear the President (who turns 80 in 13 months) to say pervy things. Or, is that TDS?

TWDS. Yep, if you are parroting TDS then sorry to hear you have TWDS. Trump Worshiper Derangement Syndrome. I ordered 100 of the Trump stickers pointing up that say, "I did this $1.80 gas price" so I can plaster them on gas pumps because someone full of it claimed gas was $1.80. Hey, I am plastering stickers in jest, guys. Because his wife is not hot anymore, right?

Are you judging those that vaccinated?
Recently an old friend who I did not realize was so anti-vax, reacted in shock when told I was fully vaccinated. Polio vax, measles vax, other shots, then ten vax shots in my shoulder all at once by a vax gun prior to serving in Vietnam. Yep, not afeared of vax ... and welcome the "chip" implanted  as often I hike and hunt in remote rugged places I probably shouldn't go, so the chip will enable SAR to find me ... like when I broke my knee in the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness!

There will come a day when we will be forced to cut military spending, cut entitlements, and/or raise taxes. Unless I am missing something, everything else in the budget is window dressing.

The day of reckoning might be 30, 40 years from now, and it is a terrible present to hand off to our kids and grandkids.

I see nothing but stunts and rhetoric from either party for decades. Our services are on credit, and we just hand future generations the bill. Any politician who tries to seriously solve this issue will be voted out of office, at least until our credit rating goes belly up, and we can’t continue borrowing.
My hope is that Trump 2 wakes people up to the reality of working only for the wealthy in policy and actions--and that leads to an uprising of third parties to compete with republicans (who are way too entrenched to survive IMO) and strong true moderates in democrats. Its starting from what I see already. Lots of folks realizing they aren't getting what they thought they were voting for and the future looks bleak.

Due to the money required to be a viable third party, there’s a high likelihood it would be just as corrupt as the two current ones. I’ll stand by my opinion that the Citizens United SCOTUS decision was one of the worst things to ever happen to our democracy. It threw the door wide open for oligarchs to own our government.

I dont necessarily see it the same way. There are a lot of things that are good that i feel good

Tariffs on milk from canada crippled dairy farming in the north.

Other countries have significantly higher tariffs on auto imports than we do. Including countries we are at peace with.

Doing something about that is a good thing for the american worker and american farmer.

Theres a lot of other foreign and domestic affairs as examples i see as improvements - and plenty im also unhappy about.

But i dont look at the alternative and think we would have been better off in totality for a variety of reasons, and i dont think im alone in that. Until the democrat party rejects identity politics and other extremism - the bad that comes with republicans in power is going to be an unfortunate reality.

Just curious - but have you looked at the balance sheet? It isnt gov employment thats killing us.

Frankly - its long history, of especially boomers, not stomaching an ounce of changes to medicare and SS. Not much besides that or mil spending will move the needle.

20 years ago boomers were telling me we shouldnt get something for free from gov, and to not believe everything we read on the internet. And here we are.
so its the Boomers now?? the boomers are Not & never have been getting free ride for anything.....they pay into social security mandated by the govt & now they are getting what they paid for......Medicare....another mandate from the govt. is not free either....

Don't disagree about the SCOTUS decision, but the growing numbers of uber wealthy people unhappy with both parties suggest money could be there. Growing realization that the status quo is taking them down along with everyone else. The obstacle is they will want some assurance it can work before donating. And don't underestimate the power of social media not controlled by Musk.

It has dipped before and gone back up. Eventually, it will make a downward trend, making borrowing more and more expensive, accelerating the issue.

When faced with cutting entitlements or raising taxes, Americans will first demand a complete disposal of undeveloped federal public lands - anything that is not a designated as a park, monument, military installation, or wilderness.

We are behind the 8-ball to make federal lands profitable as the only escape from disposal. Reforming APA (nonprofits suing federal government free of charge), hard rock mineral royalties, AUM, etc. might need to be the highest priority for hunters, at least when the political environment is more conducive to making any kind of meaningful change.

How do you make them profitable without charging a higher rate on the "users" who have elected you? And the BB tax bill includes a reduction in royalty payments for many of those "users". Conservative voters who back public lands have painted themselves in a corner on this issue, now we are all going to get screwed. People need to start counting votes and making phone calls and sending emails, but they won't. It is easier to create a story where this all works out better for them in the end.

Well, Citizens United in action. Minuscule percentage of constituency is absurdly subsidized on federal public land. I get it if senator from ID doesn’t push for it.

States E of the Mississippi overwhelmingly benefit from profitable public lands rather than subsidized. Yet our representatives don’t push for it…they cater to their Western State buddies and the National party platform instead of their voters.

If somehow we can articulate how much of a ripoff this is to the American public, maybe there is some traction.

What scares me is there is no one willing to articulate it. I haven't seen one Democrat even mention the sale. The only thing they scream about is cuts to Medicaid. Same playbook of fear the other side used to get in office (but they suck at it). The only way this bill fails is if the deficit hawks kill it for not cutting Medicaid enough. Oh, the irony! It will be interesting to watch Simpson try to explain his way out of a Yes vote. Zinke can probably get by with a 'No' because he is considered a hawk and there is no way this thing comes out balanced.

Public lands are dead man walking because everyone wants the "other guy" to take the pain. It's really similar to any Montana mule deer thread. :ROFLMAO:
