Reduction in number of NR deer licenses

Sure some have dropped off but the program is not dieing.

Yes it is, and reducing NR funding is only going to hasten its demise.

As for telling Montana residents how to manage “their resource…” This is a forum primarily focused on discussing DIY public land hunting, which is what I am doing (respectfully, I hope and endeavor to continue). If only Montana residents are allowed to participate in the discussion, I’m sure @Big Fin will be sure to let me know.

Have you even bought one of these tags that you desire so much?

Adding funding (payments are 4x what they were) did nothing for enrollment. Its not about the money.

You have every right but we have different ideas of respectful and I would label it as instigating. However, its an open forum, feel free to continue and I'll just choose to ignore.

Great point. So the program is doomed regardless.

Now what?
Again I have had landowners tell me if we weren’t hunting mule deer when they are most vulnerable they would allow access but someone needs to protect the deer.

No argument there. 10/1-10/31 would probably solve a lot of the current problems as far as I can tell.

If thats the case - they can be a bma closed for rifle season

I apply for the tag where I live and throw it away. mtmuley
I agree. But.
Bumped in to a guy that was setting up a camp to hunt md does. Just got off the river from fishing. I gave him an explanation why I oppose killing them.
But then he confessed being 75 years old and how he was happy to hunt them. I felt bad I judged him. If the tags are available for purchase is it the hunters fault?

I’m gearing up to be an elderly coyote and prairie dog hunter. I’d leave those mule deer does alone at 57, 75, or 95 years old. He’d survive too.

If only I had a dollar for every thread created regarding Montana Mule Deer and a penny for every post I think I'd have enough money now to solve the problem because I could buy out the ranching lobby that influences the politics.

Sure, I feel the same way. The guy was just happy to be out hunting for something. I can't blame him. But it shows how uninformed people are about the status of certain game populations.
