I have been field testing a new budget or entry-level thermal scope for a local vendor. "Budget" means less expensive and "entry" would mean lower level, but these are something of misnomers as this is basically just 3-4 year old level technology that would have cost 2-3 times as much back then and people hunted with it just fine. However, prices have come down with competition and with the offerings of new, higher end thermal gear. So will budget-level thermal gear hunt? For most hunters who shoot at <100 yards and virtually never >200 at night, this will work pretty darned well. It doesn't provide the really pretty images of the high end scopes, but for the person who can't or doesn't want to spend the really big bucks, scopes like the Predator will get the job done. Here are a series of video showing a bobcat, coyote, and hog taken with the Predator at various distances and a video taken of another hunter's coyote kill.
