I hate politics but this is what I have gotten out of them the last few months:

Obama: "Romney is rich and hates women!"
Romney: "Obama has spent us into oblivion, what do you think the next 4 years are going to look like?"
Obama: "Well, I'm gonna tax those evil rich people and corporations!"
Romney: "Where do you think jobs come from Mr. Obama? If you tax businesses more, do you think they are more or less likely to hire people?"
Obama: "Well, I killed Bin Laden with my bare hands and we passed ObamaCare!"
Romney: Well, there are 21 new taxes in your precious healthcare bill and the middle east is falling apart, by the way, did you know that you also have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested "overseas"?"
Obama: "But you are a rich evil "white" man! who needs to pay more taxes b/c the income tax you paid at upwards of 35% and then the capital gains tax of ~15% is not a FAIR share, I mean that's only millions of dollars paid in taxes and that should be given to the government to spread around!"
Me in audience: " Bang!" (Sound of me blowing my brains out!)

What kills me the most is the fact that the prez spends millions of dollars campaigning the last few months and this whole time he could be doing something about the deficit and jobs (he is still in office, right?) but rather he just talks about it. Can't the repubs and dems compromise on the little things?

I say VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS! I think this more of an issue with congress and the senate rather than the president for the most part...at the same time Obama hasn't really tried to bring everyone together like he promised, only continues to point fingers. If he stays in office, I fear it's gonna be another 4 years of stonewalling! But who the hell knows! I just hope everyone votes! No matter who it is for.

Our early voting starts Oct.22. I'm voting for Romney and Ryan. Concealed carry is all over the country now, I'm thinking because the lawmakers got the message from John Lott's exhaustive research that showed it prevents crimes. Obama didn't like pistols in Chicago, Illinois is behind on the concealed carry I think. Yeah, they are, here it is.

Getting concealed carry in Illinois would lower the crime rate there that Obama doesn't like, I'm thinking.

Tom- I can understand where you are coming from...if you are FOR gun control. Let's see...we have a President that reduced gun control (in National Parks) and has not signed any anti-gun legislation, then we have a flip flopper who states they would not renew an assault weapon ban but signed an assault weapons ban in the state he was governor...Yep, I can see why the NRA would endorse Mitt.

Governor Mitt Romney has signed into law a permanent assault weapons ban that he says will make it harder for criminals to get their hands on these guns. "Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts,"� Romney said, at a bill signing ceremony on July 1 with legislators, sportsmen's groups and gun safety advocates. "These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."

Like the federal assault weapons ban, the state ban, put in place in 1998, was scheduled to expire in September. The new law ensures these deadly weapons, including AK-47s, UZIs and Mac-10 rifles, are permanently prohibited in Massachusetts no matter what happens on the federal level.

"We are pleased to mark an important victory in the fight against crime,"� said Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey. "The most important job of state government is ensuring public safety. Governor Romney and I are determined to do whatever it takes to stop the flood of dangerous weapons into our cities and towns and to make Massachusetts safer for law-abiding citizens."

The new law also makes a number of improvements to the current gun licensing system, including:

• Extending the term of a firearm identification card and a license to carry firearms from four years to six years;

• Granting a 90-day grace period for holders of firearm identification cards and licenses to carry who have applied for renewal; and

• Creating a seven-member Firearm License Review Board to review firearm license applications that have been denied.

"This is truly a great day for Massachusetts' sportsmen and women,"� said Senator Stephen M. Brewer. "These reforms correct some serious mistakes that were made during the gun debate in 1998, when many of our state's gun owners were stripped of their long-standing rights to own firearms. I applaud Senate President Travaglini for allowing the Senate to undertake this necessary legislation."

"I want to congratulate everyone that has worked so hard on this issue," said Representative George Peterson. "Because of their dedication, we are here today to sign into law this consensus piece of legislation. This change will go a long way toward fixing the flaws created by the 1998 law. Another key piece to this legislation addresses those citizens who have applied for renewals. If the government does not process their renewal in a timely fashion, those citizens won't be put at risk because of the 90 day grace period that is being adopted today."�

"Never before has there been such bi-partisan cooperation in the passage of gun safety legislation of this magnitude in this nation," said John Rosenthal, co-founder and chair of Stop Handgun Violence. "I applaud the leadership of the Governor, Senate President, House Speaker and entire Legislature for passage of this assault weapons ban renewal. They have shown that Massachusetts can continue to lead the nation in protecting the public and law enforcement from military style assault weapons."

I watched the La. Lafayette vs. N. Texas football game. Way better use of my time. If I ever watch a pres. debate I will kick myself in the nuts.

Me too, A gal I work with here in Hamilton is the aunt to North Texas quarterback Derek Thompson. I was glad they won, he sounds like a real great kid.

I find it amusing that someone would believe making a law to control any kind of weapon is going to stop anyone that really wants it wether its a 22 caliber pistol or a fully automatic AK, the only thing a law like that does is set the stage for future gun laws that only effect the people that wouldnt use them illegally in the first place
I also find it ammusing that so many forget the only reason why Japan did not try to continue the attack on the mainland after pearl hArbor is because they knew most american households had at least 1 weapon if not more in its posession,
And the miss use of the word "assault weapon" to catagorise a type of firearm when it could be anything from a bus to a frying pan that one could assault another with
Whats next? Buses with automatic transmissions will be outlawed because they can get to ramming speed quicker then a standard transmission?
Some things are better left off the political plate, and combine the resources to economic issues, gun control laws have not effected those who will get them anyway.

My guess is that Mitt supported the ban in Mass. because that was the sentiment of most of it's citizens. Mass. is well known for it's left leanings. I suppose now all the Paddies in Boston will have to ship their assault rifles to Northern Ireland where they can be put to good use.

One thing I learned from the debate is that if you are shot in the head and President Obama comes to visit you in the hospital and prays for you, you will miraculously be healed...amazing. Now THAT is some real hope and change!

Didnt watch the debate myself, scanned the different news channels to see which one said what, took all the info and decided politics hasnt changed, its still all BS, sad thing is, no matter the results, we the people will have to wade in it regardless of which party, side wins, and then your choice will be knee high boots or waders depending on the outcome
