I have been hunting that way for the last forty years. I am not dead yet.I am hunting this year with a Remington 700. It has a Leupold scope on it. mtmuley
I like it. Rebarrel to a slower twist after the season. Going to drop even more bullet weight and move monos at warp speed. mtmuleyI could show you something you’d prefer. I used that combo from 1999 - 2018, slowly moving away..
It’s a 30-06 made in 1984.What is that rifle chambered in? What year is it?
You’re going the wrong direction !I like it. Rebarrel to a slower twist after the season. Going to drop even more bullet weight and move monos at warp speed. mtmuley
Finally! The bolt on that rifle is on the correct side of the rifle!!! Ive got a the Rem 700 with the grey laminated stock (LSS) in .30-06. Bought it in 2001. That rifle is a shooter. 3/4" groups. I love that rifle. And I just put a Leupold VX5HD 3-15 on it.Here are two non-milled R700s, both in 300 RUM, and both with Leupold scopes.

92 grains. If I drop down in cartridge I have an .06 and a .270. I just really like the .300 RUM. Done a lot of work with it over the years between mine and friends rifles. I keep changing my mind, but a 168 Hammer HHT somewhere around 3500-3600 fps should work well. mtmuleyYou’re going the wrong direction !
You trying to use up your RL25 at 110 grains per shot?
Didn't you just put a lilja on that rifle?I like it. Rebarrel to a slower twist after the season. Going to drop even more bullet weight and move monos at warp speed. mtmuley
Didn't get it done yet. Have all the parts, just had other stuff get in the way. mtmuleyDidn't you just put a lilja on that rifle?
Heavy is a relative term. Lighter than an elk.Things heavy! I’ve seen a couple threads of people shooting elk with one but I feel like it’s a little small for elk..
Good lord, everyone knows the 30-06 is obsolete. Damned unethical fool… least you could do is use a harder to find fad cartridge with a much smaller bullet with barely any difference in trajectory in a much more expensive rifle, at least then we’d know you weren’t in a coma. It’s a 30-06 made in 1984.
What’s even worse is my bullet choice, 180 grain Remington Core lokt’s.Good lord, everyone knows the 30-06 is obsolete. Yeah, I shoot a 4.5 Weatherchester Super Duper Magnum in a 117.6 grain. You wouldn’t know what that is, unless only elitests shoot that. The 30-06 is for ugly people.least you could do is use a harder to find fad cartridge with a much smaller bullet with barely any difference in trajectory in a much more expensive rifle
You and mtmuley are probably the kind of people who even think you’d still be able to kill a deer while hunting in blue jeans and a flannel. Good luck suckas…. more for the rest of us!What’s even worse is my bullet choice, 180 grain Remington Core lokt’s.
