Me tooI would be interested in the potato salad recipe if it is not a protected family secret?
I can see if she has it written down when I return her container.I would be interested in the potato salad recipe if it is not a protected family secret?
I like both. Cold for summer meals and the hot German for whenever I get some. Not everyone likes the vinegar.Never was a big fan of that style. I've

Actually sounds like a really good combo, suprisingly.
My parents grew up in South Dakota. I grew up in Illinois. So I was always confused why we were the only family that always had cinnamon rolls and chili. Asked mom about it and she said that was how they had it in school.Made the chili first and then the cinnamon rolls. They go together perfect in my opinion. Lots of school districts in montana serve them together. Or at least when I was younger they did.
That’s a great little piece of info. Thanks for sharing. My parents grew up in South Dakota. I grew up in Illinois. So I was always confused why we were the only family that always had cinnamon rolls and chili. Asked mom about it and she said that was how they had it in school.
Did some research and the story is that back in the late 40s early 50s the USDA was asked to write up some example menus for school districts and each district of the USDA assigned different people to the task. Whoever was in charge of the district that covered SD, ND, Nebraska, Parts of MN, WY and MT put chili and cinnamon rolls on the example menu.
Rather than being examples, the menus were just adopted by the school districts and now you have a regional cuisine that in my estimation is a perfect combo.
