Plantar fascitis, question.

Reviving this thread.

Just got my MRI results back with PF diagnosis. This has killed my summer training walks. I was blaming my zero drop Altra trail runners, but I was in them for two years before this. Switching shoe has helped some, but not a lot.
Start five weeks of PT July 15th.

Read the MRI results in mychart. Ortho wasn't reached out to me for a FUP. I am calling them today.

I'm a little surprised they did an MRI for PF, but Google Stretching for PF and start doing them. You will discover your pain threshold. LOL. You should feel better in month. Good luck.

I dealt with this. Got the sleeping brace. And the stretching brace. Took about 3 months. But knock on wood gone after that. It started within a few weeks of new cowboy boots and wife getting the worlds heaviest quilt on top of the bed and tucking it in.
After getting through the PF she understands if blankets are tucked in it will not be when I get in bed.

I fought with it for a couple years. The sleep brace and aggressive calf stretching they prescribed at first actually made mine worse, for some reason. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I found that stretching a little less aggressively, but focusing on the entire lower body (glutes, hammies, and calves) helped. Finally got through it and have been pain free for almost a decade now.

I wasn't presenting with PF. Pain is not in the sole of my foot but around the rim of my heel. Original thought was Achilles or tarsal trauma. Still need the FUP visit.

I think the PT sessions will be the answer here. I'm hoping they will teach me the movements and stretches I need to do.

My experience was the same.

Well I had it for years and all the stretches, boots, and physical therapy was a waste of time. Finally had to have surgery and they said the way the ligament or whatever was attached it would’ve never been fixed by all the stretching. Been 10 yrs and all is still good now

i had issues and couldnt hardly walk a few years ago,,i found these "treadlabs high arch insoles" and they have done great,,i wear the blue ones'high' and they also have replaceable soles that Velcro back on to change when they are worn,,price isnt bad, amazon, you might want to give them a try, they certainly work good for me and are reasonable priced.

I pulled my right calf in September last year. Took about 6 weeks somewhat off. Guess it wasn't enough, and it evolved into PF by December. Been fighting it ever since in both feet, but the right leg is worse. PT has helped with it, but I have to be diligent and if I get lazy things get really bad. PT says I need to do more strength training, but its hard to fit into my schedule on top of the stretching ( and all other life things ). Going through a bad span right now where it feels like all the muscles in my right leg are failing.

Had it for nearly two years. I also tried lots of things with no results. Went to the doctor and he prescribed aggressive foot/calf stretches which made things worse for me. Eventually I just kept working out and religiously stretching gently before and after. I noticed that as my hamstrings loosened up and I got more flexibility there, my plantar fasciitis gradually went away. I don’t know if that was coincidence or not. The only foot roller that gave me relief was a little hard spiky ball about the size of a tennis ball. That felt good in the evenings.
Assuming this was before your knee injury?

Ran the chainsaw yesterday and was in my calks most of the day.

Went to bed with both feet screaming at me.

Took two dual action Advil before bed and woke up completely pain free.
I don’t want to be living on NSAIDS, thinking about doing a diagnostic run of Bromelain

I have had PF for years but seldom rest, cold treatments and stretching didn't fix. Last November rupted my left foot and at moment it went it sucked! After 5 minutes it was sore but movable, slowed me down but finished season with less pain than before rupture. Doc said rest 4-5 months should be good, he was wrong! Only slight improvement since novemeber and I have learned that special insoles help but have just moved on and deal with pain and am back to normal distance hikes. See doc again in 2 weeks but fully expecting all fall to be limping some and lots of ice water soaks. Did shots for years and have learned that I am not doing them again, all they do is mask pain. My question for doc at next appointment is can actually damage it to point of loss of mobility or is this strictly a pain management issue.
