We spent 14 hours inside the gas chamber. Had one nice coues buck, some birds, a squirrel, cattle, and a tiny bull elk right at dark come in. The deer and elk did not like our set-up and didn’t take a drink. Won’t be sitting that long in a blind again.

It's a clear memory - 1996 Oslo, Norway on a long work trip. I was homesick for the most part and reading something I'd brought along about how the elk hunting in Arizona was so great. I started applying a few months later. I've wanted a top tier elk hunt and was willing to wait it out but didn't think it would take 30 years. PERMIT NO. 001 means my name came up before any of the other lucky recipients - even residents of AZ. I've been here a week and will be here another 3 weeks. It opens in one week. My goal is MAXIMUM elk hunting fun. I'm on track.

Wow!! Congrats. That probably took an unheard of amount of bonus points. How many did you have? Tonight I ran into a local who was scouting for his wife who had that. Have you been looking around yet? It’s pretty thick country and not as glassable as I’d have expected. Good luck!

I have been watching this thread for updates, too. @Frequently Banned Troll might not be able to post. There is a rumor going around that he (I apologize in advance if I assumed the wrong preferred pronoun) got caught up in an I.C.E. roundup in Arizona and was deported to El Salvador…
