Funny story… I was at a precision air rifle match (Junior Olympics) in Anniston, AL with my daughter to watch one of our friends compete. Kids/young adults there from all of the service academies, major college sports programs, and independents. I looked down the way and thought, “no way is that who I think it is.”

A few minutes later, the mom of the young lady who we were there to watch leans over and says, “ that guy from Mountain Men has a daughter shooting in this competition.”

Yep, it was Marty Meierotto of Mountain Men and Fur-Fish-Game fame. Looked the same in person as in the magazine or on TV. Nice, approachable guy, too. Came down with his daughter from AK, as she competes in precision air rifle and small bore.

Really depends on what you’re looking for in a magazine. If you want to read something by folks who actually know how to write, you should get your hands on Gray’s Sporting Journal.

Sadly, there aren’t a whole lot of good magazines left out there. I agree with Fur-Fish-Game.

A subscription to Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will get you Bugle Magazine. I think it’s a great publication.

Traditional Bowhunter is a good magazine, if you’re into that.

I was gonna say Field Ethos Journal but then I remembered how much heck those guys give people on their social media Q&A who ask their wives permission to buy things so that one is probably not the best. The newly rebooted Field and Stream is pretty good but it only has a spring and fall in the print issue.

Get a couple for being a member of different hunting organizations. The one I pay a subscription for is Montana Outdoors.
