Starting to plan my Kansas spring turkey hunt and I was on the Kansas website. They have some really nice "downloads" for google earth and your gps. Wish all states had these nice map downloads.

Congrats to Kansas!

good luck to all

Good Info

Thanks Dog, I'm just starting to research a Turkey hunt in Kansas for this spring also. I appreciate the info. Best of luck on your hunt!

Sssshhhh! There are no turkeys in Kansas!!! ;) The drought has really effected the upland populations in the southern/southwestern areas. Poults probably had a bad time of it but so far we have had a mild winter. Archers, youth and disabled get a 10 day head start on shotgun hunters and then we have one of the longest spring seasons in the nation. WIHA for access has a lot less acreage than the fall seasons, but still very doable.

I have never hunted Kansas a guy told me if I bought my license he knew a farm a guy had that if you paid them $600 they would allow you to kill 2 birds its not guided sounds like a high trespass fee. I never did check into it much.

$600 trespass fee for 2 turkeys seems steep to me. For that price or slightly more you could propably get lodging and meals from an outfitter. Seems like there are plenty of turkeys if you would rather save your money and hunt public land. I've run into turkeys hunting the nw 1/4 of the state on public land while hunting deer the last few years.

Ya I think it is something like a guide service cause lodging and food is provided if remember correctly. Wyoming I notice you are from stillwater ever hunt pigs at shiloh?

Lots of good WIHA and excellent public hunting WMA's. I have some very nice private but have hunted mostly public because of proximity and quality. The polt numbers look good in SE and SC Kansas despite the drought. The flash flooding does more to wipe out polt populations every year than about anything else and there wasn't much of that anywhere last year. The winter groups I have been watching are huge. Come on out the water is fine.
