I've been refining starting points for my Montana General Rifle hunt. Using GoHunt I've got some glassing points and camps picked out as well as water etc. There are a couple named features I plan to hunt near so I decided to Google them to gather more information. In doing so I found several references to established hiking trails that may make a good part of my pack in easier. These are not shown on the GoHunt Mapping. How do I see these trails without buying another subscription?

All trails is pretty good as well. UsGs maps and compass are a must have. You can still find unmarked trails in wilderness or roadless areas. If you stumble on to one that has been maintained it’s probably worth investigating. Probably leads to a honey hole or a mining claim.

When going to a new area, I always try to get the USGS 7.5" maps for the area. Have quite the collection. Maybe I am too old school, but I still carry a Silva Ranger compass that I used in ESAR in the 70's, no batteries to recharge and don't have to be concerned about cel coverage. Also know how to orient the map to the compass, lost skill now days.
