Newest US Senate Land Sale Amendment

Reading the draft of his new proposal now. Quick notes of changes I see.

1. Ommits USFS lands, keeps BLM lands.

2. At least .25% and no more than .5%

3. Keeps the same priority considerations, including checkerboards.

4. Made this change - associated infrastructure to support local housing needs. any infrastructure and amenities to support local needs associated with housing.
5. Land with grazing leases cannot be sold.

6. Must be within 5 miles of a population center, with no definition of "population center."

7. Still no limit on number of tracts adjacent landowners can purchase, while everyone else is limited to 2 tracts in a sale.

8. 10% of proceeds, increased from 5% go to -
(A) for hunting, fishing, and recreational amenities on Bureau of Land Management land or National Forest System land, as applicable, in the State in which the tract sold is located; and

(B) to address the deferred maintenance backlog on Bureau of Land Management land
in the State in which the tract sold is located.

9. Sunsets September 30, 2034.

Nope. Nope. Nope. Eff Nope.

PDF attached hereto. Hopefully you can download it.

Would these changes be enough to get past the Bryd Rule? It looks to me its still the same premise and he just changed some numbers.

Link to the podcast I did with David and Nephi last night - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podca...25-million-acres/id1395671263?i=1000714471303

Summary:

Mike Lee has granted billions in reduced royalties to oil and gas, one of his largest donors. He has to pay for it somehow. The currency he plans to use for that is public land.

The details have been tweaked, but the deal is still the same - selling over 1 million acres to pay for his political promises.

Sounding more and more like it’s directly connected to billionaire ranches, other checker board owners, and real estate developers.

At the very least - why wouldnt you just force a certain number of nominations through the already existing process?

Mike Lee's persistence on this issue is pretty remarkable. I continue to hope his dumbassery continues to isolate him. Makes me almost wish REAL hunters had a "PAC" to match this.

10. Must be sold at a minimum of 125% over market value as determined by 3 independent realtors from the market area.

Changes in red required for this to even be on the table to even begin a discussion.

"According to Lee's post, the updated draft of the bill will only include BLM land that is within five miles of cities."

These properties, the ones within city limits, are probably the most used by a variety of people. One of the last pieces to ever consider disposing. Open space around dense living areas provide an important recreational resource to so many.

Lee, you really have no clue how your constituents spend their free time. Most of us don't go to our private course after work.

His neighbors all live in DC. He was born and raised there, Harry Reids neighbor.

He comes to Utah if the Jazz are on national TV, or the President comes on for a fundraiser
