Mike Lee will get some of blame for loosing seats in congress, and will get told to shut up about public lands.

This should be obvious, but this isn't a party thing. I'm not hearing many Democrat politicians being vocal about the issue. Unless you are a Democrat, Rs losing seats isn't a good thing for the other issues.

On the other hand, primaring the Rs that are for it including Lee as long as the replacement has the right public land perspective does make sense.

Called my Senators today. Risch was a voicemail that cuts you off at 1 minute 30 seconds. So be prepared when you call to have a concise message that includes giving name, address, and phone number.

Senator Crapo’s office an aid picked up. They were friendly and professional. Took my message. She informed me she would give my message to the Senator but that he did oppose the sale of any public lands to private ownership. I did clarify that I didn’t think state transfer was the solution either.

Overall I’ve gotten better responses from Crapo than Risch both email and phone. I’m going to keep on it though.

I also emailed Representative Simpson thanking him for all he has done. I let him know that I had contacted our Senators but asked he continue opposing the sale of public lands.

I’ve contacted my elected officials more in the last month than the last 18 years combined.

In the decade or so that public land transfer and sales have been a political hot topic this has yet to occur. As much as people want to say this will hurt R’s at the polls it really hasn’t

I’ve written to Senators Thune and Rounds. Got a canned response from Rounds and nothing from Thune. Left a voicemail for Thune. Talked to a Rounds staff member.

Your correct, either way our elected representatives from both parties need to know public lands are popular among Americans, and should be viewed as such.

In another thread (that I cant seem to find) there was a chart or link that showed how much state land the various western states have sold since statehood. does anyone have this still or a link?

I was happy to see this pop up on a motocross forum I follow. Generally people were best opposed except a couple people complaining about perceived public land mismanagement

look at the Senate map, where else do you find any R votes to kill Lee’s proposal? None of the Midwest or Southeast states are going to advocate for public lands and suffer the wrath of the more senior anti-public land.

Has anyone spoke to the WV Senator Jim Justice on the committee Randy? That state has at ton of USFS within it's boundaries? I lived there for quite a while and I couldn't see any of the residents happy about such a transfer of public lands. The Arkansas member may also be a good one to work on.

Whoa!! I didnt see that coming from Marshall. I saw him at a townhall when he was a representative and he blew me off when I asked a question about the VA. I also sent an email to him and Moran I guess we'll see if they get back to me.

Great point. Arkansas has a very long standing tradition of public land hunting, particular duck hunting.

I'm working the NC senators and reps but I have 0% confidence they'll care. Tillis is on the finance committee and also very likely going to get ousted next year. Budd's just a rubber stamp.
