Newest US Senate Land Sale Amendment

@Big Fin, does the fact that SFW came out in opposition to this sway Lee at all?
Not sure, but my guess is it is a measures balance and walking a fine line. They are doing it due to membership pressure. But they have to be careful as Mike Lee could make a few phone calls and put an end to the “tag bordello,” the Expo and auction tags, which is what allows SFW to make payroll each month.

Happy to see them do it. Utah politics is strange, so maybe I’m overlooking something in my comment above. I don’t see them risking Lee’s wrath.

If anything, it will isolate him among the R Senators, as it relates to this issue.
I disagree with this. To your point, everyone hates Lee. Being on his shitlist should be worn as a badge of honor. The bigger problem we have is the land disposition isn't making the rounds in wider press. we are losing the messaging battle, again. It won't get "solved" without some press, and not Montana press but nationwide press. It seems no amount of internal horse-trading is going to get it done at this point. It's an issue that Americans strongly agree on and someone has to push it. I'm not saying Daines will win, but at least it will show he has some balls. Daines can't keep declaring the GAOA as a victory when it gets gutted in other legislation. (ok, he probably can because I don't think any Montanan is going to change their vote). I am encouraged to hear he at least tried to get guard rails placed on it, but of course was told by Lee to GFY. Maybe press the guardrails issue. Silence is not going to get anything done.

Accountability on elected officials is a cornerstone of the democratic experiment. So is knowing when to keep your powder dry, from a gov't relations standpoint.
I agree, but there comes a time to make a stand even when you know you will lose. I know this is asking a politician to hold to their principles, but you can't go through life trying not to piss off people just in case. And it's MIKE LEE! WFC!

Like I said, time for a vote. Pitter Patter. Get people on record.

This whole thing seems like another supporting reason for term limits.

The Wyoming delegation was invited by Lee to cut a deal. They did. Look at a Senate map and tell me who else could help Daines in this situation. The only remaining Rs are in Idaho. They are getting a ton of pressure and hopefully they will listen. Murkowski has been approached, as she is normally moderate and works with others she sees as moderate. Yet, her primary effort will be Medicare/caid, so she has declined to use her "at bats" to the cause of public lands. Just a function of priorities in the larger electorate.
What about Collins?

I’m going to do a video about this when I get home tomorrow. I know it won’t be popular, but I’m here to win this issue, not support/blast one party or another. I used these platforms to defend Tester when false/stupid shit was stated about him, and I will defend Daines and Zinke when the same is happening to them.
Let the chips fall where they may.
Unfortunately some are willing to trad some public land for an issue that will help there side win in the next elections and it is starting to show.

If they really insist on pushing this I think it’s only fair to include Montana and make our senators vote on the issue as it’s affect their state .
Rand, and our MT delegation takes it to 50.

It might take making sausage with another issue to move it over the edge.

We have to sell the land for budget reasons.
Anyways… Fire up that money printer. we have too much liberty and democracy and it’s again about time to spread it militarily in the Middle East.
Guaranteed to be a fast and cheap endeavor.

My favorite part- if rent on this asset was a semblence close to fair - the sale would be even more laughable.

Selling the richest annual revenue generator (aside from people) for a dumpy lump sum is poor financial math akin to selling your 401k off to buy a boat.

A single AGM-114 Hellfire Missile costs like 1.5 Cybertrucks. And those aren’t even that fancy a product from the old Beltway Bandit Missile Depot. I’ll bet we can burn through any proceeds from possible land sales before you can say “fire season.”

Probably already did.

Comment, interact, and whatever else with conservative voices saying this.

Mike Lee isnt going to be convinced by Wes Siler (who's a good writer, and i mean no offense) but if conservative talking heads start speaking the truth - it will matter much more. The wes silers of the world wont threaten his next election. Matt Walsh, and others like him, saying things like this might.

I thought you idahoans were giving your senator a nickname. Thats an unfortunate last name!

I've written my direct colorado senators and reps already, planning to send out to other states reps too, I worked with one for a while, maybe that'll let me be listened to despite not being in district.

Congressman Mike Simpson’s (ID) office provided that he is firmly against any sale of public lands in the BBB. Hopefully he sticks to it.

Emails and phone calls to my ID Senators have not given me any indication of what their plan is.
