Newest Poaching case

many social media western hunters have been stereotyped as fit, athletic, good looking and affluent?

I suspect there is a lot of truth to your observation. However, the fact that a guy in his 50s has to sell his house immediately upon a disruption in employment (albeit a severe one) kind of allows a bit of a peek behind the curtain.

I think @Forkyfinder made the point in a previous post on how a lot of these guys make way less then they pretend to. It makes me wonder if that explains a lot of the illegal behavior- is it caused primarily by pressure to feed the content monster?

They're on number 3. The first 2 were closed because the mouth breathers couldn't keep his wife and others out of the hate speech. Same with the 1st one on here, as it will be with this one.
I don't follow closely over there. Seems they are a bit more tolerant of this type of thing than other sites though. mtmuley

Randy has said many many times that posts without a kill or a critter get remarkably less traffic than conservation posts or other posts. These guys that only care about the likes are going to continue to push the limits and risk it for the biscuit. I have been wondering what is the cap on influencers? To me, except for a select few, most of these guys content is exactly the same and it’s almost predictable. They do the same podcast circuits talking about the same things, they push the same products, every other week they go on some big epic life changing hunt only to walk further and push harder than the influencer did last week, they switch brands more often than politicians switch positions.

Could it be anything to do with how whitetail hunters are stereotyped as “Bubba’s”? 1/2 drunk, overweight, lazy and dumb while many social media western hunters have been stereotyped as fit, athletic, good looking and affluent?
Not quite what I was thinking.

My thought was western brands just turning the other way from the problem or maybe more $$$ in eastern brands, so they cut out the crap quick to maintain market share.

I really don’t know I’m just guessing.

I don’t think it’s because we enjoy little Debby snacks.

I wonder how cell tracking works in areas without cell coverage. I happened to be in that exact area a few weeks ago scouting. Cell was only available on top of ridges. However, cells have emergency capability when off cell service.
Now we have the satellite text messages too that we can use in just about any location. I am not sure there are many “blind spots” anymore.

If I were in his shoes and were innocent I definitely wouldn't have scrubbed my social media platforms and put my house up for sale, etc. To me that speaks volumes.

I truly hope he is made an example of, if not this bs will continue to happen more and more frequently.

I wish more "influencers" would comment about Lampers and his poaching charges. It needs to be heard that this kind of action is disgusting.

Sponsors supporting those who have been convicted should get their heads on straight but unfortunately it only matters who gets them the views they want as that sells products.
I reached out to Matt Rinella a couple days ago regarding this situation. He replied, saying they will be covering it in the podcast they release today.

I’m sure they got a warrant to look at cell phone data including On X.

Not only cell phone data but the computer in your vehicle is a treasure trove of information. Hell my guys were writing warrants on vehicles 15 years ago on major cases. The technology available today with vehicle computers is incredible. If I have enough to write a warrant on a cell phone it doesn’t take too much of a nexus to write one on the vehicle that was transporting the phone. Just a thought.

You bring up some interesting points. Especially the idea of silence speaking volumes. Even if a company has nothing to "hide" saying nothing at all looks weird.

Not sure how much that one will help. I was surprised that Meateater posted a few days ago and was glad to see that.

Has anyone else like Remi Warren, Eastmans, Randy , made any sort of post or comment about it? One would think that anyone who is above board would comment about this.

I don't actually have a Facebook account myself but see a fair amount just through forums like this one. My wife is on Facebook and sees some things on there and passes it on to me.

So what does that have to do with sponsoring a law breaker? If he is found guilty of course. mtmuley
I deleted my comments because i figured they wouldn’t come across the right way and don’t need to get pulled into the cesspool of hate.

Ultimately, I believe he is guilty. I also believe in law and order, so innocent until proven guilty is also true. Which means that companies get to decide how they want to handle matters. People forget about contract law. What if on the small chance he isn’t guilty and companies dropped him. Couldn’t they be sued for breach of contract?

Things are not always so clear cut in life.

I find it interesting that people buy and support products because of a celebrity sponsor. I can't think of one time I have done that. mtmuley

Not a lawyer but I’d suspect being convicted of a felony would void the contract.

He was convicted? I thought it was criminal complaints.

Anyways, again… i feel like he is guilty, but I’m sure companies need to consult with their own attorneys on the contracts and best way to navigate this.
General statement regarding any felons with a contract. We’ll see on Lampers. He may be innocent.

I really doubt there are any binding contracts making companies continue to use spokespeople. The companies may have trouble getting money back but they’re not going to be required to be associated with anyone.

Not up on all the celeb law breakers. Did NF keep one? mtmuley
My understanding is that some guy who goes by muleyfreak was convicted and instead of dropping him nightforce doubled down to defend him. It didn't set well with me and therefore won't own one of their scopes.

To each their own however and it may be a futile effort to not own products that support "dirty influencers "

I try as best I can but the list of companies who do so is long
