What are your thoughts?

Try to keep it on track.
Nothing wrong with asking why sponsors put up with it and what should they do.

Just keep it on topic the best you can. I will try to weed out stuff that can derail it.

I’ll start. Did anyone see Brian’s video yesterday?

Thoughts?

Do we think LE are checking cell phone data to see locations during harvests?

Have any sponsors come out and said they support the situation? Has anyone come out to say they are dropping the individual?

Probably, but likely not without a warrant. So they’d need to establish probable cause first. So they aren’t catching you based on cell phone data, but are likely using it to convict you.

Yeah…

I saw the video and Call’s comments especially Call saying he has never done anything illegal, tactfully forgetting his own poaching conviction in Idaho. Call was covering his arse.

There are influencer type hunters most of us wouldn’t be surprised if being convicted of poaching. At least to me, Lampers wasn’t one of those guys which makes these charges interesting. However, looking at the details of Lampers charges, and his reaction, it’s hard to believe he is innocent.

I’ve wondered how the animal was killed too. There was an archery tag open in 28 but we don’t know Lampers used archery to kill the buck. The buck was killed on opening morning of the 28 hunt. I doubt he killed the wolf and cat with a bow. Poaching is poaching irregardless of the weapon. Lampers may have used a rifle to poach.

Anyways, we’ll find out in the court hearings. Everything else is speculation until the court evidence is presented.

If you Google how to tell if someone is lying based on body language his body language in that social media clip checks every box.

Do I think Conservation LEO’s are randomly checking cell phone data of people to see if they’ve been poaching? No.

Do I think Conservation LEO’s are using cell phone data as evidence to solidify a case? I sure hope so.

Are federal, state, and local agencies using cell phone data to track usage of public areas? Absolutely! Agencies are using phone data to justify need whether it’s trails, boat landings, day use areas or even habitat improvement projects.

Do we really need a 2nd thread on this ?
The first one was deleted and the pitch forks came out as if somehow HT was protecting the individual or sponsors. False

It just went down 847373 different a rabbit holes like most threads like this and it was way too much to clean up to keep open.

Y’all have a full right to talk about this stuff.

So that is why there is a second thread.

I did watch Brian Call’s Instagram post regarding his friendship/working relationship with Ryan Lampers. I feel that it was as much of a Seargent Schulz (Hogans Heroes) “I know nothing!” as it was a characterization of his hunting buddy as he has observed to be a upright law abiding citizen.

The video of Brian’s was weird but about what I’d expect from his ego.

To get the cell data people are wondering about any LEO needs a search warrant which requires probable cause a crime was committed

I think the timing of peax buying lampers hunting products is super suspicious. I doubt you see any of his sponsors ever say a word or actually distance themselves

The reason I brought this part up confuses me sometimes.

I’ve seen western hunters get caught in hot water before and the sponsors remain quiet.

I watch a whitetail hunter recently get in trouble in Kansas (Matt Jennings “The Game”) and very quickly I watched 5 major sponsors openly say they don’t condone his behavior, his actions don’t align with their company, and they all dumped him.

It’s just weird how I haven’t seen that as much “out west.”

I’ve seen phone data in a lot of recent poaching cases with super large deer out east. The Ohio one for example. I’m honestly happy to see it being used to poke holes in stories.

Hopefully it makes people who lack integrity to think twice before they cross that line…..

I wonder how cell tracking works in areas without cell coverage. I happened to be in that exact area a few weeks ago scouting. Cell was only available on top of ridges. However, cells have emergency capability when off cell service.

Could it be anything to do with how whitetail hunters are stereotyped as “Bubba’s”? 1/2 drunk, overweight, lazy and dumb while many social media western hunters have been stereotyped as fit, athletic, good looking and affluent?

If I were in his shoes and were innocent I definitely wouldn't have scrubbed my social media platforms and put my house up for sale, etc. To me that speaks volumes.

I truly hope he is made an example of, if not this bs will continue to happen more and more frequently.

I wish more "influencers" would comment about Lampers and his poaching charges. It needs to be heard that this kind of action is disgusting.

Sponsors supporting those who have been convicted should get their heads on straight but unfortunately it only matters who gets them the views they want as that sells products.

Brian’s video made him look guilty and Ryan even more guilty to me. To many absolutes and disregarding his own wildlife violations sent up red flags. He would have been better off with a 30 second video about how he never expected it and hopes everything works out in the end. Discovery could be interesting if they compare location data, to video, to tags. I just don’t feel like you go from upstanding rule follower to 3 animals in a two week period. I hope for sponsors, his family, and everyone else involved that there was a big misunderstanding but the recent actions tell a different story.

I have made a lot of mistakes in my life and paid the price for all of them either legally or in what some should call karma.

It was never worth it.

Anything but an explicit disavowal from sponsorship is and endorsement of the activities, alleged or not. Us consumers should react accordingly.
On one of the podcasts I listen to they always say silence is still a language. Sponsors not saying anything about a situation still speaks volumes about what they think.
