I finally put everything together and the stars all lined up and I was able to get an arrow into a buck. I spent the first 3 days of the season helping my brother in law get a buck, and then was able to start on my own. The next nine days I was able to hunt mornings and evenings and a couple of full days mixed in. I snuck a lot of bucks, but the high pressure left the wind swirlling and doing all sorts of crazy things. I got real close on a 28 in buck last week, and even though I didn't spook him, he never gave me a shot. Last thursday I spoted this buck in a canyon with a bunch of other bucks. When I got in there, the wind swirled and bucks took off every direction. This guy split off on his own, and bedded underneath a big rock bluff. That was his last mistake. I was able to sneak to 13 yards and shoot him straight off of the cliff. Not the biggest buck I was on by any means, but one that made me pretty happy to get an arrow in.

The best part was that my brother in law was back over and helping me so I only had to carry half of the buck out of the canyon.
