Mule Deer Buck of a Lifetime

I have been blessed to live in some pretty epic mule deer cycles and I've been fortunate to have a few cool places to hunt them. I have three bucks in the 190s, another six in the 180s. Could never break that 200" glass ceiling though.

These are my too biggest, one in the low to mid 170's, one in the mid to high 170's, I don't remember the exact scores. First buck is 27.5-28" outside, the second was 31.125" outside. First buck has a cool abnormal point of his right base, and great eye guards. Second buck has a cool double eye-guard. Both MT bucks.

The dream for me is 28-30” wide over 190” within 2” from gross to net and dark horns. I may be better off hunting Sasquatch

@littlebighorn killed this buck in CO, but I think it was a little over 200". Maybe he'll post a pic. My dream buck.

Great thread. It’s interesting to what guys’ expectations are now in 2025. If I ever kill one close to 180” I’ll consider it the buck of a lifetime. My two best are only hovering at around the 150” range.

Seeing as we have some good photos and scores being thrown out on this thread, I want to see what you guys think the velvet deer scores. The finished euro is the deer from the photo I posted above. It was scored by an official B&C scorer at 182 5/8 gross. I garage beer scored the velvet buck with some buddies one time and never bothered to do any more verification than that. Without telling what I taped it out at, what are some guesses? Front forks really hurt the velvet deer.

This is my biggest buck, but I have another that has a 1/4” higher gross score - but is certainly not as big as this one. Have another two that gross a little over 190 and a few in the 180s. 194-2/8”

Mule deer is an extremely weak category for me.

I’ve only had a few tags.
Partially self inflicted because if I drew elk or something else that would take priority.

My goal for 2026 & 2027 is to burn some points and upgrade my “biggest”.

Fun fact, I snuck in on this guy while he fed with 11 of his friends. 7 yard shot ended him quick with the bow.

I'm looking for an old regressed forkie with bases like coke cans...seriously, not really worried about the overall score, but I like antlers with mass.

Sadly your buck of a lifetime died quite a few years ago. I found him dead in the 80's. Wouldn't say he had regressed though. Found two other sets of sheds and I think he is most impressive with this set. Keep hunting, another one is out there somewhere.
