Mule Deer Buck of a Lifetime

I find myself thinking about what a true lifetime mule deer buck is anymore, especially in some states where the mule deer hunting is so poor. There are a lot of hunters out there, and I wonder what the biggest deer is that they will kill in their lives. Luck can play a big role for sure.

Obviously typical vs non-typical plays into a trophy’s size when it comes to gross score and a true comparison across deer, but just out of curiosity on overall gross score, what are people’s biggest mule deer to date?

I have shot more than one whitetail that would score better than my only mule deer. My brother took a pretty good photo of it though.

A guy I was riding the school bus with in my senior year of high school shot a 250+” non-typical less than 50 miles as the crow flies from where I was living at the time. Unfortunately, I never had any interest in mule deer then and, now, that class of deer is gone.

I’d be happy to see any of the 200+ bucks

My best I measured at about 181. I have serious doubts I’ll ever kill one bigger based upon where I currently live unless my Arizona or Wyoming points really pay off. I’d be happy to kill another couple cool character bucks or just ones built differently than my current number 1

My best buck. Shot in 2014. I just caught the tail end of good mulie hunting before CWD changed the game. Hopefully they come back over time. Could have bought an archery tag and hunted Mulies every year but I didn’t bow hunt them and I used to live in prime mulie country

Yep Mulies especially. WT seem pretty resistant but Mulies seem really susceptible. They actually shut down doe tags for most of Sask and closed some areas down This year even. Too late but maybe will help them start to comeback

nope, I have seen two 220+ bucks in my life. One I didn't hunt because I was helping a friend hunt a different big deer and heard he was shot opening day, and the other one a friend found and his family was hunting him, so I didn't.

I believe I’ve seen the mount from the one that your friends family was hunting. Hell of animal if it is.

As far as I know he was never taken.

The one that is in the FS office was the one I heard was taken on opening day, but he wasn't. Kevin got him mid season. No idea what the buck that was shot opening day was. Just that it was shot close to the road on the same creek the one I saw. Guy from Wisconsin.

In my parts of Sask, we went from huge herds with massive bucks to barely anything worth taking a second look at.

The mulies have gotten the crap kicked out of them and it's pretty sad...

Just curious if the prevalence rate was known when things took a crap? Definitely not meant to be a derail for this thread.
