So everyone knows the Montana system is uber-complicated for nonresidents compared to most other states. I’m not whining here. Honestly. Just curious. Has there ever been any serious discussion at the state level to move to a system like Wyoming’s where limited entry units and the general units are applied for in the same drawing with the same bonus point structure? Seems it would be a whole lot easier for all involved, applicants and state personnel.

"Serious discussion," Not that I have heard. Increasing tags, perhaps (would require statute change).

Thanks. Just when I think I’ve got a handle on it, after years of applying, I learn about things like pref points expiring after two years of not applying or the 25% set-aside for non-pref-point-holders actually providing decent odds compared to applicants applying for combo tags with 1 point... It just seems so crazy. I’m not sure how new applicants ever manage to wrap their heads around it. Again... not whining. I swear. I’m just kinda surprised some sort of simplification process hasn’t been discussed in earnest.
