If the wage is high enough the jobs will be filled. If you're thinking you're going to pay laborers fast food wages you're going to have the break the law and hire illegal workers.

New Zealand s the place for you, hunting every day of the week, not tags, hunting permit over the innett. Fishing is good too but do need to pay for that, probably a Hundy a year, that's on fresh water, sea fishing free, can go on charter from moeraki or maybe Timaru.
So here is a list of handy animals you can hunt, red deer, fallow deer, an hour's drive from Geraldine or Timaru gets you into wallaby by the dozens, there's rabbits and hares, those hairy goats called Tahr and chamois, and last but not least there's Wapiti down in Fiordland, if you miss out on a ballot just walk in after that period and receive a free pass and go hunting.
And pigs all over the show
Geraldine is an old time town, quiet as, I was there last week and no people to be seen on dusk in the town centre.
If it tickles your fancy and need more info happy to help, I can fill you in on how to make money in your trade line.

With a clothes pin on my nose and smile on my face. I often joke about how I'd gladly go back to my first job at Whataburger flipping burgers and making food if my paycheck stayed the same. I had almost no responsibilities, nobody looking to me for answers, I could do that job with my eyes closed while thinking of a hundred other things. I say joke but I'd do it in a heart beat.

Isn't the immigration policy in NZ pretty restrictive?
I talked to a guy who did that for a living. He loved his job and insisted it was the best job ever. He didn't have to be in an office, almost never saw the boss, and he got to drive around all day and shoot the breeze with construction workers.
He didn't seem like an overly ambitious guy, but he seemed happy.

Who cleans your porta shitters?
I have read through all of the posts on this thread and resisted to answer but after some thought decided to post anyway. @Flatbrimmer I feel your pain! I was in your exact situation in Bozeman, in the late 80’s. Relative to the times I was working a job and making good money at $4 per hour. (Minimum wage was $3.35) My wife and soon to be born first son, did not have a pot to pee in! We had no help from family, no rich relatives and don’t buy lottery tickets so it was totally up to us to decide what our priorities were. We had to decide to stay or go. We loved Bozeman and decided to stay! It wasn’t easy. At times we almost didn’t make it. I worked 2 jobs 60-70 hours per week. My wife worked too. However, 36 years later we are still here and have made it to comfortable. We will have all of our kids, grand kids & parents here this year for the holidays!My wife and fam are talking about possibly moving to Oklahoma… I am very skeptical but at the same time, it has simply become too expensive to survive here in the Gallatin Valley. I love it here and never in a million years want to move. I have been saying that if my rent goes up I will not pay another red cent. Period. It’s gone up 700 dollars in 4 years and don’t seem to be slowing down. I’ll never be able to afford a home here and I could get a marvelous looking home there for an affordable rate, although I do not know top wages yet.
Anyone wanna help talk me into it?

Looking back on those 36 years and all of the blood, sweat & tears…. I wouldn’t change it for anything
. We anchored ourselves in a community that ,though it has changed dramatically, is our community and is worth all of the effort. My wife and I had 1 unified goal that kept us on tract. It was, raise our kids the best we could, give them a home to be proud of, stability to know they were loved and always had a place to come home to, the same home they always knew. A lot said that probably wasn’t helpful so I will get to the point. What is you & your wife’s most important life goals as a couple that if changed by 1% today will move you to your goal tomorrow? Change a mindset change a life. 1 degree of change today, tomorrow, the next day and so on can make a huge difference in achieving your goal(s). Hope my story encourages you or discourages you to the point of action. Action is where life happens.

When I used to work at the quarry, we had the same guy who came every week or whatever, so over the years you got to know him a little. Went into town one night to pick up a pizza. There in the back by the oven he was. Apparently he delivered on the side. Our eyes met and he looked away immediately. Something about the guy sucking up shit with a hose all day doesn't sit well with handling your food. Lots of inside jokes were made artwork when I told the guys. From blue thumbprint on the crust. To what a good businessman he was delivering today picking up tomorrow. I made sure to always pick mine up.

Or what states do you like to hunt that neighbor and what’s that run ya? Where bouts you stay again? Central OK? Like I said, I’d have to be within hour of OKC… sounds like I might have good work there lined up if I wanted and my wife keeps sending me all these houses on acreage that are ridiculous…..

I hunt Oklahoma each year in the SW.
I love Oklahoma and have killed some decent deer there over the years. Plus a few antelope, turkeys, and hogs. I plan to go chase an elk there in January as well. There’s a fair amount of public out there and types for everyone.
Being close to Kansas and Missouri you have those as options too. Missouri is cheap NR tags and lots of public land.
You can go on a whitetail fest and hit Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas each year. Kansas will depend on your draw.
It’s kind of nice having New Mexico that close as well…

Why would it be cheaper down there? I was always told the most valuable real estate in the world was the Oklahoma panhandle. It was the only thing that kept Texas from touching Colorado. (Que the drum rimshot) Ba dum tsh....
