Hey ya'll I'll be moving to San Antonio, Texas in Dec. Looking for info on hunting and places to hunt both public and private land. Hope you folks down there can give me some advice on where to go, and where not to go.

It seems that most hunting in Texas is on private land, via leases. Tom will know more as he is a San Antonio resident. He also knows where the public land is.

How long did it take to get your Visa?

If she was moving from Idaho, she'd have to pass the IQ test before getting her VISA. ;) :D

We can meet for coffee or something and go over a lot of info. TPWD, Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept., has a web page and it has a lot of info. about the public hunts. They will be actively going on when you move here. The whitetail season will be active but that liscense costs ordinary nonresidents $300. You could get the non-resident exotic liscense and hunt hogs, javelina (actually native but covered on that liscense also), and an assortment of other exotics until you establish residency and that liscense is only $45 for 5 days, $120 or something like that for a full year. Then next fall, the whitetail liscense with residency would be way cheaper. It will be duck and goose season when you get here too, plus, fishing at the coast and on lakes, etc.

Why are you moving here? Military get resident liscenses, they don't have to buy the non-resident ones and once they are residents, the liscense is free.
