Montana Question

I have a question on Montana, I was thinking of putting in for a long shot elk draw (Breaks Rifle), but falling back on something in the SW of the state that is non-draw (323, 324 or 325 specifically). My question is, is that 324 is a draw for deer, a tough draw at 4%. So if I use my Big Game Combo for 324 as a second choice and I am not drawn for deer what happens to my application?

You can hunt deer in other General districts.

So if I'm not drawn for deer, my elk tag is still good, and I could jump over to any other non-draw HD in the state?

You ELk tag is good for any General area in the state. Even if you draw a limited entry tag.

You can also shoot a whitetail deer in any of those units on a general tag. The draw is for mule deer only. And yes you can go to any other nondraw area in the state to shoot a mule deer with your general tag.

The only limiting factor is if you draw a limited area mule deer tag, you are restricted to shooting a mule deer only in that area. You can't shoot a mule deer anywhere else in the state. You could use your tag on a whitetail anywhere else in the state.
