If all of that line of shit was true youd see real business owners lobbying for more NR hunters. Never heard of it.

They make their voices heard. I have long criticized that MOGA report. The numbers might be optimistic but they aren't zero or even immaterial. The problem is figuring out the elasticity of the numbers in relation to NR permit changes. Either way, MT hunters made their bed by tying the vast majority of their funding to the NR. You want to change it, pay the bill.

The businesses there. Like the busineses here. Dont give a damn about how many infant deer take a truck ride to the left coast or midwest. Because it doesnt mean diddly to their bottom line. If they did - you or treecarp could find they care. You cant.

Paying the bills would be easy. An old tactic for states with wildlife population could be deployed (screw the NR) a welcome tactic to me thanks to folks like treeshark who feel their entitled to something they simply arent for a million reasons. Alternate would be a reasonable price increase in R sales.

Funding the agency that manages wildlife and the financial benefits to local communities tied to NR hunters are two separate issues.

Businesses can diversify, create new revenue streams, and adapt to ebbs and floes of money generated by NR hunters.

FWP needs adequate funding to properly manage our wildlife resources. A majority of that funding and funding for Block Management comes from NR license sales. Unless an alternate source of funding is secured, reducing NR’s is going to have a significant impact on FWP’s budget. Finding an alternative source of funding should be step one for folks passionate about cutting NR numbers. Fix that problem and the path towards cutting NR numbers become much more doable.

Holy hell! I'm being blamed for Montana's shitty roads now? And half that budget for roads comes from the Federal Government anyway.

I know this is a mule deer thread but pressure from OTC cow elk hunting is a pretty big issue in region 4.

OTC B tags on public land are a huge issue in region 4 and 5. It’s been a night and day difference here since that started.

Depends. Most are valid on private, DNRC, and BLM. Not valid on USFS, USFWS, WMAs. Some are valid only on private for things like early shoulder.

Just got this in the mail this week and was impressed with the details of the survey. Good to see they're including antler measurements and proper aging techniques. Does anyone know if this is a new survey for deer permits? Ill probably call the bio and pick his brain and I can report back.
