Model 70 .223 build

Before and after. I'm not the world's greatest checkerer-er, but it say that's an improvement. The lpi was made more uniform and the diamonds were all pointed. Notice how much more clear the new finish is compared to the milky poly that was on it before also.

I bet the depth you brought out in that grain looks even better in person. Very nice work!
 
Love that stock finish. Familiar with Truoil but on new wood. Is sandpaper your preferred method to remove the plastic finishes? Thank you.

A chemical stripper and plastic scraper is the safest way. You run the risk of taking off too much if you sand it.

I've switched almost exclusively over to sandblasting at low pressure.
