It’s 11:28PM on March 14th and opener is at midnight.

7 of us are out on the water ready to get to snagging.

8 keepers, 2 released for another day and another one that hit the boat and touched the line, but got off.

All in all it was an incredible trip.

I caught the largest (74lbs)
It was such a fun fight.





Finished the trip strong with a hearty breakfast.

I couldn’t imagine cleaning that many of those. Your wife will probably wanna pressure wash you off before entering the house.

Imagine eating fish sticks with the texture of a chicken strip.

I like them.
I take a lot of extra time to cut out every bit of red meat/fat that I can.

I usually give them a salt water bath or buttermilk bath.
Then it’s cut into cubes and fried!

It’s hit or miss down here. Some people don’t mind it and others won’t touch them.

The nice thing about near the lake is there are older gentleman who will take the fish from the people who don’t want them, butcher them for free; and distribute it to a lot of locals who need the food.








I’ve got a long day ahead of me with cleaning. I may as well not even sleep and stay up as late as I can.

I’ve had ones that have been excellent and ones I wouldn’t feed to my dog. It always bums me out how much trimming goes into those fish

One of the best things I ever did was an outdoor shower. You just walk in no matter how dirty you are and get after it!

You aren’t wrong! It’s going to be a long couple of hours. I’m already drowning in coffee.
