First let me say that nothing is more important to me than my family. I put them before myself no questions asked, every time. But, this is why i'm feeling sorry for myself right now and maybe typing it out will make me feel better?

I have waited years for drawing a gmu 1 muzzleloader deer tag here in Colorado, it took me 6 points. I have spent hours, and hours scouting, map work, talking to biologists etc. The season opens Saturday and is 9 days. My plan has always been to spend all 9 days hunting, except for bringing my son back home on Sunday night so he won't miss school, and picking him up the next Thursday and bringing him back. On Monday I find out I am going to have a meeting on Thursday in Denver that I cannot miss. There is no way around that, my livelihood depends on it, Last night we find out that my wife is going to have a Dr appointment that she keeps telling me I can miss, but there is no way I am falling for that.

So right now as it looks I am going to be down to hunting the 2 weekends that the season is open. Not the worse thing in life, but I have been planning on this hunt being a wallhanger or nothing hunt.

I love my family, and I need my job so I don't have to live in a van down by the river. But, crap, I hope my hunt goes better than my other luck this week.

Have you heard the saying, "If you want to hear God laugh, tell him you have a plan." ?

Make the best of you situation and good fortune to you.

Do you feel better?

Can you turn the tag in, and get your points back? option 1 worth a shot.

note: Back in 2000, i went to AUS for work for 3.5 weeks. Missed the annual elk trip I host, but Paralympic team duty called. I went to the DOW, explained what happened, and they changed me out a tag for 3rd season. Option 2.

Focus on your family! Hope your wife is ok! If the meeting goes well and you have that quality job, option 3, buy yourself that deer hunt later and call it good! Post a big gmu 1 buck on here and tell us the story. That should cure ya!

Oh so very true in my experience!!! :( Often times the "right' choices are the most fun nor do they often adhere to a plan. Mine took me over 1500 miles from where I'd like to call home. These kind of dilema's suck!

Turn the tag back in, keep your points. Go next year.

I have a muzzy tag as well and my truck is in pieces at the mechanic.................

I started rounding stuff up last weekend for a OTC elk hunt in Co. next week. Phone rang Monday, a job bid I made 2 months ago and had given up on was accepted. To much money for me to walk away from so that hunts off.

As of now Looks like I'll just hunt the second half of Nov and all of Dec.

Dink, surely Oaks got a rig he would loan you.;)
