definitely not a coveted tag by any means, but i got my WA special draw mule deer tag in mail today. in this portion of the state we have a genuine problem with too many 2X2 mule deer bucks. i'm talkin OLD 2pts. so the state has finally started administering a limited muzzleloader hunt for these bucks. i hope with the intention of removing some of these bucks from the breeding pool. tough country to hunt with a front stuffer but i feel like management hunts such as these are necessary for overall herd health, curious to hear other opinions on 2pt only type hunts.

I'd be surprised if it changes things much if at all. For one, the offspring are only getting 1/2 of their genetic makeup from their fathers. The 2pt "problem" could be coming from mom and that'd be pretty hard to ID and select against. IMO, herd health and antler size/conformation are not synonymous...
