No the threat is real and apparent if your paying attention but I guess maybe you could miss it if you stick your head in the dirt…I guess you are a coal miner so name checks out. Burgum has straight out said these are just assets on balance sheet and the intent is to maximize the return on these assets. Conservation isn’t going to provide this return last I checked. This admin has been exceptional at using deceptive or straight up false language to serve up the political red meat to the base… kind of like waste fraud and abuse means spending that isn’t supportive of their agenda once you translate it. I’m still waiting for them to arrest people for all this fraud that doge found. Maybe the arrests are still coming. The wheels of Justice turn slow that’s for sure.Wonder if some are trying to find a devil in the details that isn’t there?
I think the devil is in the reality of what's already been done to the USFWS, BLM, USFS, NPS, etc. etc.Wonder if some are trying to find a devil in the details that isn’t there?
Not sure exactly why, but i can't find any information on a few campgrounds. Cant reach anybody at the office, silence. Quite frustratingI think the devil is in the reality of what's already been done to the USFWS, BLM, USFS, NPS, etc. etc.
Pretty tough to say you give a shit about public lands, wildlife, hunting, fishing, etc. then slash the very agencies charged with doing what that EO claims it wants to.
Right, its almost as if the staff isn't there to answer the phone, so strange.Not sure exactly why, but i can't find any information on a few campgrounds. Cant reach anybody at the office, silence. Quite frustrating
Spent last weekend fishing a great stretch of little used creek on FS land. Everything seemed remarkably similar to every other year. Stopped by a FS shitter. Clean as ever. Lightning sparked fire out in my usual elk hunting ground. FS managed to piece together a couple hundred fire fighters, a few helos and a couple planes to fight it. Saw three different BLM rangers out yesterday doing their thing. BLM employees still manage to make it out for monthly inspections. OSM employees are diligently working on permit revision. I guess we all have different experiences under the new regime.I think the devil is in the reality of what's already been done to the USFWS, BLM, USFS, NPS, etc. etc.

Your use of the word “regime” is very appropriate.I guess we all have different experiences under the new regime.
Agree. But why issue these EOs? Sure he likes to sign stuff and draw attention to himself. Maybe it’s just his people feed their pet narcissist? Just something to keep an eye on is all. That committee isn’t exactly a bunch of public land-loving conservationists.Read it.
Not sure if I'm missing something.
But it dosnt seem like the sky is falling.
It will certainly be interesting to see the actual real outcomes vs the assumed outcomes. So far I see a lot of similarities.Early in the year, wait until resources are stretched a bit.
I'd have a hard time beleiving many of them have. Same goes for most any politician for that matter.That being said, I don't know if potus really knows what is in many of the EOs he is signing.
Sec. 2. General Policies. All Federal land management agencies, as defined by 16 U.S.C. 6801(3), shall, to the extent practicable, ensure that their policies:
(a) promote responsible stewardship of natural resources while driving economic growth;
This language enables, and IMO directs, land management agencies to prioritize economic growth over every other use. Not like they need legislation, they'll try to do it anyway. We must keep fighting this sh!t.
Not the kind of growth this administration acknowledges, I'm afraid. Think extractive and consumptive uses.Increasing hunting and fishing opportunities can help drive economic growth.
The best thing we can do is vote the politicians who are wanting to sell OUR public lands out of office. The ones with the "R" next to their names have been pushing for public lands to be transferred to the states for decades. This would have resulted in the same thing since the states would sell the land for $$ to the highest bidder.I might be speaking out of turn, and I dont want to ruffle feathers. I actually hate these threads, nothing gets accomplished. But if we keep spending the way we are and growing the federal goverment (which produces no taxable income) including when they buy up lands and call them federal lands. When our debt comes do (all the money we have been printing ) and we can not pay the interest on that this debt, or dollar ( which is weaking by the day) will be useless. Our slimy politicians and government folks will sell off the lands they have confiscated (public lands) to our debtors (China, India, etc.) and no one will have access to all theses lands. But we can all be happy we bitched, whined and moaned about keeping them federal as they sell them to forgien buyers off for keeping this generation fat happy and uncountable to future generations.
