One thing I will say is hunting brand pants do have some specific features that are hard to find in non-hunting pants. Namely thigh vents, DWR, removable knee pads, and a useful pocket layout. The closest I’ve found are Kuhl Radikal Outsider pants but I found at a very rainy antelope camp that the waxed cotton wets out pretty quickly and is way worse than synthetics once it’s wet. But I don’t have any hunting brand tops - the stuff I ski patrol in (Smartwool, Outdoor Research, Arcteyrx, Patagucci) is just as good and I don’t have to look like a goober wearing camo around town.

You should check out the truewerk t1 pro work pants(made overseas somewhere). I'm a landscaper and have been looking for pants that checks all these boxes for both work and hunting and these are nice! They might be a tad loud for if a guy is trying to crawl within sub 20 yds from a mulie and I'm not sure of the DWR coating but I believe they have some kind of water resistant coating.

I wear my old army ACU's or multicams. They are made in America, pockets make sense usually, pants have slots for knee pads if you like that kind of thing. If you layer you can stay reasonably warm. Yes, there's alot out there thats warmer, lighter and more water resistant but if you are looking for american made, durable and affordable I recommend military surplus.

I started out wearing army surplus still use some for turkey hunting, goretex coat. BDU shirt wool socks. For cold weather I have gone old school and wear nothing but wool, some of it is military surplus, Swiss ski troops heavey wool pants. Most is a mix of Woolrich, Pendleton and Filson with merino wool base layers.

They might be a tad loud for if a guy is trying to crawl within sub 20 yds from a mulie and I'm not sure of the DWR coating but I believe they have some kind of water resistant coating.

They look pretty interesting and the price point is pretty attractive. One thing that I prefer is zippered main pockets because I'm paranoid about my car key or wallet slipping out of my pocket to never be found again, but I acknowledge that's highly unlikely and have several pairs of pants with standard pockets. The new Sitka Endure pants are my current top pick but I don't like the cargo pockets as much as the old Mountain pants and the fabric feels like it might not hold up as well. My mountain pants have been exceptionally durable - hundreds of days and little holes from barbed wire and sharp sticks but they just keep going, the only thing they're missing is thigh vents.

i wonder why wrangler quit making the camo jeans? i liked them, comfortable and reasonable priced,,cotton if they get wet was only issue like any other normal jeans.

I'm no brand loyalist. Have a Sitka beanie that was on a crazy sale at bass pro and I think I used points for it anyways. Have firstlite shirts which I did learn about from Remi Warren. Reason why I decided to buy was because they actually had shirt sizes that would fit me. I had looked at Sitka before and they didn't offer small in what I was looking for and when I messaged them about their jackets they said there was nothing they could do about the sleeves being 4-5" too long. (No I don't have t-Rex arms)

My jackets are instinct line from cabelas, socks are darn tough, bottom base layer is smartwool and Scheels.
Probably the next base layer stuff I get will be from cabelas.

Another plug for Truewerk..I have three pairs.. I like them for work, Spring turkey, and Fall Upland. The hand pocket has a small zippered compartment, but the larger portion is nicely constricted, nothing is going to come out.

I did use up some REI points and scored on Prana pants.
Rain gear is ancient and worn out. Old Cabellas goretex used as Park Ranger an the Rainseude stuff just gets soaked.
