I have not had good luck with stickers and tape they always fall off. I ended up just taping a dope chart on the stock.Turret tapes/stickers > CDS dial.

Gotcha, I'm going to run a few of my final load over my chronograph and send it all to Leupold and let the guys that are a hell of a lot smarter than me figure it out.No, you shouldn't estimate. You need to spend some time messing with a ballistics calculator to get a grasp on what you're trying to do

....an airtight excuse to buy 2 more rifles. What elevation differences are enough to get a new/different CDS dial? I'd heard 4000' increments.
I think I'm committed to one cartridge load for all North American Big Game. Problem is I live and shoot at Sea Level, but my deer and elk tags are in areas 8-10,000 ft elevation. What if I get a chance to do a quick hunt in the foothills at 5000 ft elevation? Do I need 3 CDS dials?

I have some dedicated optics sans dial for scut work. The pig I shot today wouldn't have given me time to range and adjust. I didn't even have time to adjust magnification.
Which ballistic calculator would you recommend? I'll mess with it and see what comes out.Do yourself and the animals a favor and invest some time into figuring it out on your own. None of this is very hard and unless you were dropped on your head too many times as a kid, it's not that hard to figure out. Put good information into any of the free ballistic calculators out there and you will get good information out
Easy to shoot, hard to hit. Don't you remember when you had to sight in for every box of factory ammo?Interesting how it became so hard to shoot stuff. mtmuley
Poor man’s CDS! Love it!!!A yardage turret is the easy button, but yes, you need to know the distance to the intended target.

No, they can get wet, peal, and fall off. If it’s a Leupold, it’s free and forever.Turret tapes/stickers > CDS dial.
Me too.I have not had good luck with stickers and tape they always fall off. I ended up just taping a dope chart on the stock.
