LET'S TALK COFFEE :)

Freeze dried single origin espresso with freeze dried whole milk is a killer combo when backpacking
We have a lightweight mixture of instant coffee, dried creamer, and chocolate mix which quickly stirs into a fine morning wake-up drink on the JetBoil as we are packing to hit the trail.
Down the trail a few miles we mix up Mountain House biscuits & gravy ... and often another cup of the java. We enjoy the simple trail routine.

As a noncoffee drinker, this thread makes me chuckle at how much anxiety and money is expended in the pursuit of coffee. The tyranny of coffee is real and all for cup of a very unappetizingly brown, bitter liquid full of tree waste and just plain bad things.

"Free yourself!" I say! "Free yourself from the Tyranny of Coffee and the Coffee Barons that hold your puppet strings and pocket money!" (and save 5# in you backpack and a toasty warm extra half hour of sleep this fall in your sleeping bag).

Okay, I'll find something more useful to do with my time....

:)

My buddy had these boujie pour overs last time we were out. I saw the 2.50/ bag cost and decided to make some myself. Im not that picky but excited to have the regular cup of joe while im out in the backcountry. I haven’t found an instant coffee that hits the same.

I’m a sucker for these. I enjoy a cup as much as my home drip.

Who you make those pour overs?

IMG_8465.jpegIMG_3891.jpegNeighbor started a t-bag coffee company. They are great and easy to use in the field. I just rip the bag open and dump the coffee out after using and almost no weight to pack out. I have the advantage of being his neighbor so I usually just ask how much recently expired stuff he has! lol but I’ve also bought a fair amount from him as well.

It’s good enough though that sometimes I’ll make a cup at home with it.

My buddy Steve at Hammer is selling a Kona coffee from Hawaii. He met the grower while hunting there. mtmuley
