Let's see your antelope rifle.

I've only taken four antelope, four trips to Wyoming. Shot two with my 25-06 & 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip, and two with my 30-06 & 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. The two rifles are almost identical, Remington 700 CDL's with 6x Leupold scopes. Each is pillar bedded & free floated with the triggers set to 3#.

The 30-06 with my 2018 antelope:

The 25-06 with my 2012 antelope:

I do most of my hunting with those two rifles. The 25-06 has only taken coyote, antelope & mule deer. The 30-06 has a more extensive list of species taken.

Edited to add - before I started hunting them, I figured I might have to take some really long shots at antelope. That hasn't been the case at all. I've taken two at about 160 yards and the other two in the 240 - 255 yard area.

I thoroughly enjoy hunting, cooking and eating antelope! Some of the best meat I've ever enjoyed.

Thinking I'll give the Mortimer a walk for a doe pronghorn this year. The pre-64 Winchester model 70 has popped one, and I've got a Ruger 77 in 7x57AI that is desperate need of a new stock in the line up as well, but it would be the best to sling a 350 grain round nose bullet at 1800 fps at a speed goat.

What caliber is your double?

I like that roughly 40 year old Suburban, but it is a beater! :) Not mine, it's on the Montana/Wyoming ranch where I often hunt. 4-speed manual, 3/4 ton four wheel drive. Works pretty good still. I don't think it gets used much, except during hunting season anymore.

It's got a grill guard that folds down to be a game carrier. My buddy's mule deer buck is on the rack in that photo. He got it in the morning, we were heading back to the ranch house and came across some antelope, so I took this buck. He went on the same game carrier. :)

That is awesome man. Would be a lot of fun to shoot. What make is the rifle?

Mortimer rifle, with 28 or 30 inch Damascus barrels. Express leafs good from 50 to 300 yards. She's heavy, right Round 10 pounds or more but a lively & lovely rifle.

So psinclair is the one who convinced me to buy a 6.5 SAUM, and here he is using a Winchester lever action... grin. Here’s my western rifle:

Rem 700 L/A, McMillan stock, 30” Krieger barrel in 6.5-257Rob AI. I built it for antelope instead of a .280AI thinking that I would draw an antelope tag before I’d draw an elk tag. Thus far it’s taken four mule deer and an elk. I currently have another deer tag and elk tag, but still no pronghorn tag. :(

6.5 Manbun. Started out as 700 5R in 308. Had Apache Machine in NC true the action, rebarrelwith a 24" Kreiger sendero profile, bedded the action and add DM bottom metal. It's worn several scopes, but currently has a Bushnell DMR 2 on it. It pulls double duty as a match rifle and LR Hunter.
