Ok for those of you who look up while you walk through the timber have you ever seen mushrooms placed in the branches? Do you know how they get there? It surprized me.

Hippie squirrels testing wild mushrooms for hallucinogenic qualities. If the squirrel is dead at the bottom of the tree, don't touch that mushroom.

It's actually pretty funny watching them with it in their mouth trying to find just the perfect spot to stash it,

That looks like a russula genus mushroom which both squirrels and elk love to eat. No doubt, the one in the tree was cached there by an elk. Probably a good place to wait and watch for the critter to return.

Its caused by a phenomenon called a gravity sink. They are very unpredictable and I've only come across them each time I've missed an easy shot while hunting. :D

Squirrels. Looks like a bolete. They are edible. The squirrels try to hide them from the shroomers.
