Lots of ways for those states to make the money to make up for the shortfall though, just have to get a little creative.

Somehow I think if there were 265 deaths in Job Corps in 10 years, we all would have heard about it. Maybe not.
But eliminating Job Corps, and making some of the claims they make, is a heartless, gutless move. I've hired a number of former Job Corps graduates in my time and that program, while not perfect, has provided more value to the nation and the individuals who have gone through it, than most will ever understand.

It could be any number of solutions, but at least it would be up to the individual states.
As a general rule- the close to home that decisions are made, the more accountable the decision-makers become.

The states can't afford most of the things that they are suggesting are better managed by the states. Again, the idea of a "Service" is lost on many.
I mean okay cool, we need to tighten the belt and cut services, but acting like the states are just going to pick them up and start running them is laughable and clueless.
I’m not sure I agree with you on that.
Most of us probably agree that states are best suited to manage their own wildlife resources, is it really such a stretch that they may be also the best stewards of the land itself?
The details would depend on the wishes of the citizens of each state, but I think at its best it would be a delicate blend of increases revenue and decreased expenditures.

Please explain how the states are going to pick up the maintenance and operations costs of these places without federal tax dollars, and continue to provide equal service. I mean, if you have a magic formula, I'm sure most states would love to hear it.
As for states managing "their" wildlife, I'll give you a few things to consider - 1) high fences, 2) baiting, 3) endangered species and 4) migratory animals

I wish that were true, look at how well that's worked for State owned lands in NV, UT, MT, WY, etc.
I think the more general rule is that local politicians can be bought off much easier at the State level.

Treecarp your a smart guy and I know your just trolling as to why I don’t waste my time responding to you anymore. Are you ever going to get over the butt hurt of states putting their residents first before nonresidents? Hunting is probably a minority activity that happens on these lands and sites which I know you know. They are great wildlife habitat but much more too. Take a camera and go hunt until your heart is content. Almost all federal lands and parks you can do that right now including Wyoming wilderness. Randy can’t make it any clearer for you as to why state management won’t work. You come off as so petty on this topic.

I’m agreeing with Treeshart more and more, that if a thing didn’t work for me the way I wanted then we should just blow it up.
For example, I did not draw a primo elk tag in New Mexico this year. I’m am now a staunch advocate of giving the whole damn state back to Old Mexico cause I’m pretty sure they’d let me hunt whatever if I have the cash.

I must have missed the part where DOGE was blamed for the poop and needles. I assure you the poop and needles have been there long before DOGE. But it’s true that DOGE terminated the employees and contracts that cleaned up the poop and needles. Which of these facts do you take issue with?

The thing I take issue with is that some people want to just hire people to clean poop and needless. Some people just want to create jobs out of the shitty situation (pun intended) and “hope” that it continues to keep those jobs active.
People like me want to hire law enforcement to prevent and or arrest or remove those shitstains of society that are causing those issues in the first place.
Given the cuts DOGE has already implemented at the Forest Service, employees are in some cases too fearful to reject the assignments.
Seriously? It’s called a job. Do what your told. The level of entitlement of federal employees is off the charts with this entire thread.
