Kurt Russell speaks out for elk hunting.

Rare for anyone especially with the amount of publicity that he has received over the years to support hunting.

Weird to me that people need to justify hunting these days.
Well, it is sad that we do, but each summer I have vehicles all the time stop on my fence line and get out and take pictures of my steers or horses. My steers are picture worthy for your taste buds, the horses are just hoping you have treats for them.

Last summer my niece brought out her 35-year-old fiancé' from New York out to our place. I would say he was overwhelmed to say the least being exposed to beef, horses, atv's and mountains. He was curious, scared, memorized at the whole experience. He had never seen a live horse or cow.

I was blown away by him as much he was blown away by the experience. This man grew up his whole life in New York City and truly had never been out of the city. Think about how many people just like him live in big cities yet never leave the pavement.

I wouldn't call these people ignorant, but they have been sheltered. Guns are used for violence, and their source of food comes from the grocery store and restaurants. He did some target shooting and he was exhilarated as he had never touched, held or been exposed to a gun let alone shoot one.

He was proud and anxious to eat some ranch raised beef.

Think about the city you come from or live in, I suspect you can find a lot more people exactly like him.

For the most part, I grew in the suburbs of Denver, however I'll bet you right now you could find a half million Coloradoans that are just like him and have no concept of hunting or why we hunt - BUT they gather their opinions from TV and influencers.

We have to educate these people before the anti's beat us to it.

And yes I know Colorado is full of California and Texas transplants, but still these people need educated!

Was driving around an intern engineer in our field 8 years or so ago. There was some cows on the lease road and he had me stop so he could take pictures. Then he asked me if I could speak to them. Asked him wtf he was talking about? He said you know can you moo at them? I laughed and said my 4 year old can moo at a cow bud. His mind was just blown. Also turned into a terrible engineer

I used to work ranches growing up. A lot of time spent on my best friends Uncle's place. My friend brought a guy he met in college out to the branding day. He was from Pittsburgh and a city boy. Didn't like the branding at all. But mind blown was when we cut the calves. mtmuley
