Kauai family fishing

Since the kids are "supposed" to be starting in person school sometime soon, we decided to take a quick trip to our favorite island of Kauai. Went out fishing today and had an unbelievable day.

Awesome! Kauai is so gorgeous, it’s a toss up between there and the Big Island as to my Hawaiian favorite. How much did that marlin weigh?!

Who did you go with? I'm aleays on the lookout for a boat/captain/guide to go out in, in HI.

We went with “hunt fish Kauai“. These guys know their stuff and Kodi the owner is a very avid elk hunter and is fun to talk to.

It just opened back up. Need a negative Covid test within 72 hours of arriving and you’re good to go. Looks like a lot of small businesses didn’t make it though. Pretty sad.

How does marlin fare on the table?

Really pretty tasty. It’s not tuna but pretty darn good.

Correct. Blue marlin and wahoo. Took right at an hour to land the marlin. Watching that thing dance out of the water was incredible!

The marlin hit 90 minutes into our trip. We ended up cutting the trip short because he wouldn’t fit in the cooler obviously and we didn’t want him sitting in the sun on the deck all day.

It was their first marlin of the season which was pretty cool.

486lbs estimate based on measurements. No scale at the dock.

They do 4, 6, and 8 hour trips. I had booked the 6 hour trip but was happy to cut it a little short.

What an amazing fish. I hope everyone got to feel the power during the fighting/ boating.
