Introduction to Muzzleloading

Ok does anyone have a tip for getting one of these clips installed?

I have spent freaking hours trying to get the original one back on, and can get close but not all the way. I tried to order a new one from Muzzleloader.com, but they seem egged and I can't even get them started. I'm not a giant dude but this is ridiculous, I'm applying enough force that I'm worried about breaking something

I assume that is a ramrod thimble? I had one come out but did not seem to have too much problem putting it back in. Might be like a site dovetail and only goes in from one side? Persistence. Looks like you could squeeze it together and put it in ?

Damn if I didn't get it literally as soon as I posted this. There's definitely a trick, one I don't know, because it slipped on easily this time after struggling for weeks.

Was there a temperature change? Wondering if that made a small difference that allowed you to finally get it on.

Figured it out in bed. It was a physics issue that I'm embarrassed I didn't immediately see. I was hooking one side and trying to then push the clip from that side across. But this time, to get more leverage I inserted a dowel and pushed on it. By doing that I was effectively pulling the clip open as I pushed, and it it snapped right in.
