Illinois Whitetail

Several of my co-workers thought I was nuts to go to Illinois to hunt Whitetail deer when I have them in my backyard(Montana), but this is my second trip to Illinois, thanks to a good friend's invitation to hunt on his property. In 2006 I shot my biggest whitetail with my bow, so this time I told myself that i would have to be a little picky on what I would shoot.
Second night in a treestand and the first buck I encountered, I shot him at 15 yards.
He is a 6 x 8 with some nice junk on the base of his horns

Unfortunately one of them moved in front of my truck Monday afternoon. Got my first buck of the season, just not the way I had intended.

Great buck you shot! Congrats. You should of tried roping the one below the stand and then called a buddy!!! You could of said you had one tied to a tree and watched his face expression when he showed up! lol. Thanks.
