Illinois "rewilding".

Maybe Washington can send some wolves to Illinois.😉

The word choice to me is an indicator of their thought process.
Ok, I started the mentor wolves in this thread. I meant it as sarcasm & figured everyone would get the joke.

I still don't like the wording used but I really was just kidding about the wolves.

Worked there today. If your gonna release wolves that'd be a great place to start amd im not talking about the old arsenal either.
Funny, was going to reply with a similar post.

Once done in joliet send em to decatur.

I don't know about looking for a monster. We're just used to always getting screwed here and tend to look for an agenda. The bill itself is so short that it leaves more questions than answers. No details about how to accomplish any tasks. Pretty wide open. I'm all for most conservation efforts but we've had some clusterfuggs along the way. There was some farmland in a drainage district here that was turned back into wetlands. A family I knew was displaced from their home for it yet the family that the place is now named for still has their house and land. The water never even came close to the displaced family. Pretty sure no wolves will be coming, especially with all of the current noise about them, but I guess nothing really can be ruled out. Can't find out much about the sponsor to get a feeling of her leanings. Guess it's the wording that sticks out since it's also in other areas of the country.

Latest copy of illinois outdoor news has an article about reintroducing badgers. Still need to read the article but maybe thats the apex predator they speak of.
Well the badger pic in the newsletter was a link to a trapping article that funny enough does not mention badgers. Of note possums brought $0.45 each at auction and 23,ooo coyotes went unsold.

Illinois has nothing but corrupt governors. Our current billionaire governor had all the toilets removed from his house (something like 8 bathrooms) so taxes would be based on a non livable space. He had them reinstalled after the inspection. Typical illinois politics. You cant blame any illinois resident to be wary of any of the crap they promote.

If they released wolves at Midewin, they would have a lot of competition with the coyotes. I can't tell you how many turkey hunts I've had ruined by coyotes there.

It was an amendment. It simply added to another section. That is why there were no other details. As I said, take the initiative to define what "rewinding" means, or it will get defined by someone else. You posted the website of the sponsor. Go to the bottom of the page and send her an email or give her a call. She may not be your rep, but she is close enough that she might answer. Ask her some questions. Tell her you love the idea and ask if DNR asked for this change? Who did? You would like to send them a 'Thank you'. Tell her you would like to know if she would sponsor a bill to reintroduce elk under her "rewilding" campaign and who should you talk to?

Or you can complain on the internet about how you are constantly getting screwed by the Dems...

While you are at it dave see if you can remove toilets from your house to avoid paying property taxes like our governor.

Im actually an equal opportunity hater. I dont like any R or D if they represent chicago area. It was a democrat from southern illinois that was able to get conceal carry passed. As flawed as our CC law is it is better than nothing.

It’s not a conspiracy when they come right out and say it. The “Rewilding” movement and self titled organization is pretty well known. We get hear to them all the time in Colorado at CPW Commission meetings and guess what? They are definitely not extolling the virtues of hunting. Mostly rants claiming how hunting is inhumane, unethical, and unsupported ecologically. Pretty much universally oppose hunting outside of subsistence folks, particularly any take of mountain lions, black bears, or wolves. Maybe the Illinois “Rewilding” is different than the Colorado or Washington or the Rewilding Institute “Rewilding”. Clearly it is not well defined in the statute and there is work that could be done to protect hunting, fishing, and trapping within that approach. Changes can be moments filled with great danger or opportunity.

Reintroduce Grizzlies and wolves, start on the west side of Chicago.
