I'll just leave this here

Must have been posted by a wolf hugger. I don't know any more about BGF than I saw here but it appears that they are on the right team and are taking the fight to the right people, the politicians, instead of sitting on the bench and yelling at the refs.

BGF has routinely made false claims (like they helped gets wolves delisted - they were kicked out of the room when the nut cutting happened, they claimed USFWS was going to place wolves in the Baca Wildlife Refuge) & they continue to push for bills that would put wolves back on the endangered species list.

They've taken hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money with pretty shady accountability and no results except, again, to claim that the work of others was theirs.

They're the sportsman's version of a snake oil salesman and they should never be trusted with our wildlife or hunting opportunity.

Brain Trust - I spit my coffee out on that one.

To be fair the guy was a professional wrestler....then again, most entertainers should not be listened to for their political beliefs.

SWF/BGF have plenty of black eyes, yet continue to linger, offer up bad legislation and attack the NAMWC. Unfortunately, they look good on the surface, but that is because like anti-hunting groups they pull at the heartstrings, and too many get caught up in their smoke and mirrors.

This just reaffirms my belief that you can never trust a man with a ponytail and/or mullet.

Pretty much nailed it why they continue to have support. Good sounding names, pretty fluff pieces like this, pictures of big dead animals, and "celebrity" spokespeople. They've done a great job of grabbing onto the wolf issues late in the game and milking it for all they can.

Black Eyes? Looks like they are winning awards on the Outdoor Channel.

MacMillan River Adventures/Big Game Forever

We are very proud of the fact that the MacMillan River Adventures/Big Game Forever wolf episode was awarded the Golden Moose for “Best Conservation Show” on Outdoor Channel last year!

Shawn and I were proud to partner with Big Game Forever to tell the true story about the wolf re-introductions to American Sportsmen. Not only was the story of the wolf re-introductions new to many American sportsmen, but through our episode thousands of hunters joined the fight to delist wolves in the Rocky Mountains and the Western Great Lakes. We were honored to accept the Golden Moose Award on behalf of all the hunters and sportsmen, and especially our courageous friends at Big Game Forever. After our show aired, Outdoor Channel changed its policy and now allows wolf hunts to be shown on the network. Ryan Benson, from BGF, is a stand up guy that is a fearless fighter for hunters in America. Shawn and I support Big Game Forever (www.biggameforever.org) and strongly encourage you to do so, too!

If we leave the "entertainers" and haircuts out of it, Ben are you saying that BGF is not helping the average sportsman or the fight to limit the wolf populations? Are they doing more harm than good? Like I said I don't know anything about them, just trying to educate myself and others with good info. Where do you believe their money is being spent?

Muskeez, yes. They have essentially just followed the anti-hunter formula and used wolves listing on the ESL as a money maker. Ben can opine better on the details surrounding the de-listing with Simpson Tester as he was there. But, BGF got called out by the NRA.

Have you ever hunted Utah on OTC tags or through the draw? SWF through their Convention in Salt Lake every year have worked to get the best of the best tags allocated to them so they can "auction" them off to those that can afford them and the rest are left to raffle where if you want a chance at one you need to attend the event....and spend money.

Here's a good thread regarding BGF being called out and how they have continued to twist facts.

In Ben's link they convinced the legislature of Utah to give them $800k to "keep wolves out of Utah". You might as well give me the same to keep kangaroos out too. Upon an audit conducted it seems pretty clear it was just a crony handout and they cannot produce any summary of their achievements.

Long story short, they have used the wolves and predator claims to fund their agenda. The irony is richer in that Don Peay claimed the NAMWC was "socialism", well I'm not sure what I'd call and $800k handout from the Government but it's a lot closer to socialism than the NAMWC.

Well-done post. There will always be naysayers on both sides of any issues.

Just pointing out how they are portrayed by a hunting show and the Outdoor channel. It appears to be a different opinion than many well respected people on this forum have of the BGF/SFW group. I can see how it's is difficult/confusing/frustrating to keep track of these different groups and exactly what they stand for.

Oh my.........here we go again;)

Fin must be sleeping or pulling some dead animal out of the woods.......or he is out of breath from already beating this issue to death:)

Why do I get mad just listening to Don Peabrain talk......geesh:D

Canadian show, hosted by a pro wrestler, backed by a bunch of frauds, experts in the video are a Kansas politician, and a deposed wildlife commissioner/poacher from AK. Topped off with some pretty goofy/amateur looking wolf taxidermy. Sounds legit, give those dudes an award! :W:
