My first year applying in Idaho and I applied for moose, then I realized I apparently cannot apply for deer elk or lope now because I applied for moose.

Considering how low the draw odds are, buying a license just to buy a lottery ticket for a moose probably wasn't very bright, oops.

I think we drew 7 elk tags and 6 deer tags between ‘86 and ‘93 and my daughter went 1 for 1 moose apps/tags.
I tried for various M or S up until about 2012. Ofer.
Wife drew a bull elk around 2010.
We got out after 20 years with 1 tag.
I use my app money to buy bullets for my Alaska hunts.
Idaho doesn’t miss me and never loved me.

My daughter is in for Moose. I don't put my boys in for once in a lifetime because they are so tied up with football that they can't give the hunt the attention and time it deserves. I switched up moose units this year though, to see if we can increase our odds a little bit.

I stand corrected in that I got a refund on my CC, but it didn't show up until June 13.

You can draw as many times as you’re lucky. You can only harvest once

If you draw and don't punch the tag, you have to wait two years before you can apply again. That means you can apply again the third year. (2027 for me.) You CAN apply for SuperHunt or second draw for leftover tags.

A resident of Idaho since last June, moved north from New Mexico. Of course I put in for Moose! After ten years of mostly futility in NM, the draw odds on moose seem pretty reasonable.
