Hey all, I drew the muzzleloader deer controlled tag 1085 for Idaho which runs Nov 25th-Dec 9th. It includes Units 29 and 37A. I tried reading through any old posts on this but let me know if you think I missed something. Would anyone be willing to PM to help me get started? I plan on talking to the game warden and biologist but would love some help from anyone that is willing.

Saying unit numbers and asking for people's hunting spots is generally frowned upon on here. A better conversation starter would be something like "I have a mule deer tag for late November early December with a muzzleloader. The elevation range of my unit is xxxx - xxxx, my plan is ...."
I'll say that onx is the greatest technology advancement for hunters since scopes. E-scout before you call bios or wardens and ask specific questions. Otherwise you will get the same general answer everyone gets when they call.

I really wish guys would get over this "don't put hunting areas or hunting spots" on threads.
ANY unit that has a drawing and a quota is not going to be overrun by hunters because somebody put it on here. Just get over it.

Fair opinion. Does this logic still apply to easy to draw tags? What about units that are on a draw and have a quota but usually go leftover or can be had second choice.
I don't ask strangers at a gas station for their hunting spots, why is it better to do that over the internet?
I'm encouraging the OP to enjoy the process of creating their own plan and finding their own spots.
Do I think its wrong to ask people for spots, no. Do I think you deprive yourself of learning and some of the fun by going to places other people have already found, yes.

Sorry, all. I have hunted once before in Idaho and found someone on this site that was very helpful. They did not give away any hunting spots but helped talk me through some basics and pointed me in the right direction. I then spent hours and days obsessing on my own, doing research, calling multiple times to talk to game wardens and biologists and ended up picking a spot all on my own and had the hunt of a lifetime and then took my dad back there a few years later and was able to share the experience with him. One of my reflections after the hunt was that I wondered if I could improve my hunting experience in my home state of Washington if I put as much focus and effort as I did into finding a spot in Idaho. I put in so much work for Idaho and have started to have that same mentality for my home state even if it may be more challenging. I am not asking for anyone to post openly but was trying to get a conversation started to see if anyone was willing to engage in the private message forum. I am sorry for getting to specific.
