I want to purchase my first suppresor, no idea where to start

I want an airlock industries 6.5 can, they dont have dealers in west montana yet

first step set up a gun trust i assume so family members can use it and the rifle
?

is that a lawyer thing? if so who?

next step?

thanks

I am in the same boat. I have a threaded 6.5 cm. I know nothing about suppressor. There is several local shops that sell them but each only sells certain manufacturers which they coincidentally recommend as the best. I just need it light weight. That's my only criteria.

Silencer Shop has kiosks, you can do everything online and at the kiosk in about a half hour. Stupid easy no lawyer involved for a trust or individual. Really stupid easy
do you have to buy there brands of silencers,,,

They sell pretty much everything that’s not proprietary to silencer central. So No Banish but pretty much everything else.

I bought mine from a dealer in person and just did the paperwork at the kiosk.

Move to nz, buy over counter, place is overun with game, 24/7 ,12 month of the yr.
But how about buying the gun to go along with that suppressor?
Edit: Serious question, how is that process for you? When I was in SA this year it was easy to buy a suppressor but over a year to buy a gun!

Our son set up, or is in the process of adding us to a trust.
Bought us a Dead Air Mask for Christmas.
Waiting for Silencer Shop to send the forms to add us , they aren't in any hurry it seems to forward them.

The can is awesome !! Think move sounding suppressor- no sound at all.
Took a few shots to work in but it is quite impressive as far as sound deadening.
A 30 cal. can is next.

If you have a firearms license then can walk into any sporstore and buy over the counter.
Jus t cant buy a semi auto.

This is technically correct but I would mention you are not allowed to walk out with it. You still have to go through the process of obtaining the stamp until it gets out of jail.

I am also in the market for my first supressor. Have considered one for awhile, but with my daughter going on her first deer hunt this year, it has pushed me to get one. Good time to buy with the stamp fee going away and processing times having been better though there may be some delays in the near term. The Airlock is at the top of my list right now. Prioritizing length and weight for hunting with 6.5 CM and 22-250 has me leaningthat way. It amazes me at the number of options out there and everyone having their favorite. Process seems complex at first, but I am planning to have a local dealer walk me through setting up a trust for my wife and I for this first one.

I had a guy tell me he just purchased a couple suppressors with Silencer Central and it didn't take that long at all and they handled all of the forms for him.Everything he needed to do was from home. I think he said about a month and it was at his door.

Could be true again. But for sure not early 2026....

Finding a local silencer shop kiosk location is probably your most convenient option. They can handle the transfer and NFA paperwork as well as set up a trust. I'm pretty sure you should be able to have them do the paperwork on near any suppressor you have them process, it just adds additional fees that dont exist compared to buying something off the silencer shop website or direct off the shelf at the store.

I have my information with capitol armory from prior purchases so I just had them process the transfer for me on a Unknown Suppressors can that wasn't available locally and ship it direct to my door. Added near a month to the duration and about $165 compared to just buying one off the shelf locally. A silencer shop kiosk would be faster id think but would require action in person.
