23k people in the US have died from the flu since Jan 1st. but no one bats an eye or shuts down the greatest economy in the world over that.

We have a flatter curve, without a doubt - so everything that companies in the bay area did to help employees stay home starting early march, that people did to adhere to early warning signs and what the governments did to further that mission by instituting shelter in place, appear to have helped us. We still have a curve, and we are on the growing edge of that curve, so this is not the time to relax. But it is a slower growth curve.

yeah its serious.. but we don't have a clue to the actual cases.. the denominator is a much bigger number than the confirmed cases.. they simply aren't testing. They're telling almost everyone in the state of iowa that you can't get tested unless you are elderly or an infant. Im not saying its not a serious illness but there's no way the hospitalization rates and the mortality rates are correct. they base that strictly off of confirmed cases vs hospitalization vs death.

Italy’s numbers are extreme because their healthcare system is crap. A fine example of socialism medicine. They’ve stopped even treating anyone over the age of 60. I foresee the US death rate being 1%< of all infected.

By most matrix's italy has a very good health care system. You want to blame demographics, living conditions, societal norms, poor planing pre infestion of the virus .....all that I can entertain. $hit health care. Not so much.
We better be really careful pointing fingers because we do not have such a stellar heathcare system ourselves, and furthermore...take a look around at the humans around next time your at your local corporate mega stimulus infuesd stores....and i would be surpised if it looked like a picture for healthy humanity.
