‘I Didn’t Vote for This’: A Revolt Against DOGE Cuts, Deep in Trump Country

What is factually incorrect?

The article relies heavily upon the premise that is is a federal responsibility to financially support Mr. Zink’s hunting hobby. At present, that is indeed legally/factually correct so I’d have to concur.

Mr. Zink’s stance is only a portion of the article. Nowhere does he state the federal government should financially support him. What is factually incorrect in the article?

The entire article is written to imply it: he is the protagonist of the story, used to garner sympathy of the viewer. That is a classical literary technique.

Nothing is factually incorrect- I was agreeing with you.

The 2024 D candidate and process was such an abysmal mess, it surely didn't offer much for alternatives. As I tell my D-loyalists, "I agree with all the facts pointed out as to the completely unpresidential character of the POTUS. But, what does that say about your candidate if your candidate lost to him by a large margin?"

The process was a mess, but ironically we replace one senile old guy with another senile old guy, but this one is also a grade A asshole. This isn't the Dems "fault". I feel zero sympathy for those having regret because a lot of them aren't going to change how they vote. The best sign is people who say "can we not talk about politics?". Those are the people that are second guessing. Americans knew who and what this guy was. This process tells me that a lot of them still have racist and sexist tendencies, like the idea of getting rich (even if it is through corruption and grift) and are still too lazy, stupid, and/or close minded to do a little research before an election. Quite a few of them just believe things are better now than 12 months ago because they are told it is so. Mostly, Americans just like to be unhappy with something for no reason and need to find someone to blame. I expect checks to be sent out sometime next year. If there is one thing voters like it is a government check.

Great post, Randy.

I mean this respectfully- this point above is exactly why I feel so strongly that wildlife and the land on which it lives cannot and should not be separated conceptually. I get and understand the legalistic argument, but one relies so much upon the other that it is impossible to uncouple.

As far as the subject of the article, I feel bad for him- but I’d have felt a lot worse ten years ago. After getting “wildlife is state-owned” rammed down our throats so often lately, it sure seems like a short-sighted battle cry when issues like this are being discussed.
Imagine the wildlife were water - does that help?

I’m still waiting for my cost of living and gas prices to go down. Wasn’t that supposed to happen on day one?
Well gas technically has but its been extremely flat all year which honestly is a win compared to everything else isn't it? Especially when you compare what happened in the first 1.5 years in the previous administration

did you think they were good at the time?

I didn’t. But looking back… now I do.

Not sure if that’s because my views have evolved or because the bar has been lowered so far.
I think it's more that you don't have this constant stream of media telling you how bad they are.

I have also lowered the bar, because the more I look at the job of President the more I think it's the worst job on the planet and am greatful that anyone is willing to do it.

The hardest thing in the world for anyone to do is admit they are wrong. Humans are wired this way; our egos are our greatest weakness. And with a completely fractured media, "alternative facts," and blind tribalism being the new norm, getting anyone to open up and admit the choice they made might not have been the best is nothing short of a miracle.

Terry is a great man, I know him well. He cares deeply about our home state and puts his money and his time where his mouth is, and he could not care less about someone's national political affiliation. If you care about protecting our public lands and way of life, he's with you. This article highlights that integrity.

My own hope is that people stop shaming those that are starting to see the light. But that goes back to putting egos aside and having empathy... which let's be real: in this economy??

Mostly, Americans just like to be unhappy with something for no reason and need to find someone to blame.
Humans evolved with stress as a motivator to succeed. Modern life is so completely devoid of legitimate stress that we've had to fabricate it.

Season's winding down, fire up the political threads!

Reading political discussions around here is like watching the Cowboys play football. "Surely it won't be so bad this tim- ah, dang it."
