How to prepare trout

Exactly. It’s not that they’re bad, it’s that they taste like nothing. I imagine it is what tofu would taste like if it had bones.
Best trout I have eaten came through the ice on a small lake here in Western Montana. Deep pink flesh and really excellent smoked. Hmmmmm. Need to head out there. mtmuley

What is everyone's favorite way to cook trout? We have a few in the freezer from our Yellowstone trip and we are going to try for some more that get stocked in a few lakes around here in the winter. Just wanting some ideas on how to cook them

Thank you for any recipes
Remove hook and throw back.

Joking. I usually smoke mine for a little while and then can them.

GreatGrandma Grace made the fire and heated the skillet before she ran the worm onto her hook. Those brookies were flicked out of Little Canyon Creek with her willow stick, dacron line and snelled EagleClaw hook. It was gutted and still wriggling when it would hit the grease. Corn meal dredge was optional.

She would eat the crispy tail first.
