Congrats on your new addition! You will always have a story to tell him each September. She held off all the way til Oct 1. Elk hunt was missed…
baby boy is healthy and growing like a weed.
In hind sight I could have killed my bull and been back in time.
You must like living dangerously. My wife is due Sept 26th. I went ahead and purchased and elk tag that opens September 15th. I will do my duty to do my best to check in with my Zoleo on a nightly basis to stay in contact. I would love to hear some hunt talkers stories about priorities and hunting to the limit on a due date.
Now you can take him with for his first birthday and get that bull together. She held off all the way til Oct 1. Elk hunt was missed…

The takeaway is don’t ask for advice on social media. You know your situation better than any of us peanut gallery turds ever will. However thanks for letting us weigh in. Very entertainingShe held off all the way til Oct 1. Elk hunt was missed…![]()

Your #3 will be conceived in August. My wife was done with summer pregnancies after #1.My first was born in June, my second should be here Nov. 10. Im thinking we go camping/fishing somewhere for the eldest's bday and then a late season elk/mule deer hunt for the younger one. Wife can't argue with that, right!?
Congrats on your addition. You made the right call IMO
#7, why. no need to be there at all, you will have 6-8 more opportunities to be there apparently so give yourself a pass on this one. Nobody will remember.I will be 6 hrs away as far a drives go. But, if I get an elk down it is a 2 day pack out minimum.
This is child #7

Get a phone that can satellite text and check in often from anywhere quickly/easily. Easily solves the patchy cell problem. Get an inreach and burn it up checking for new messages so you get real time info in a timely manner. 1.5 hours away is nothing, tack on how long to hike out if needed?Bringing this one back.
Our third child is due December 5th. I'm planning a deer hunt two weeks prior. Feeling very on the fence right now, and kind of coming to grips with the fact that I might need to stay home.
Our first two kids were both a week early and both labors were fast and furious (less than an hour), so I know I don't have much leeway.
The unit is only an hour and a half away, but we'd have decent hikes in and out, and the cell service is patchy.
