The new place we bought last Feb came with one. I've always been skeptical about em. Well Sunday night the A/C quits. Monday morning I contact the company and they say they'll get ahold of an approved contractor in my area and get back to me. I'm thinking 'here we go'. It is gonna hit 110 and today is Monday....thought we'd be down 2 -3 days down minimum.

I get a call at 3:02 pm...the repairman meets me at my house at 4 sharp,\... diagnoses a fan motor problem, replaces the motor and capacitor, and It is cooling again before 5. We have heat forecast at or above 105 the next 10 days.

I pay 60 bucks and have a whole new attitude about home warranties.

Our home warranty worked out great for us as well as our microwave and garbage disposal went out in the 1st year. They are nice to have if you can afford the price tag.

Glad it worked out for you. I had the opposite experience two winters ago. Temps were in the low 30's and the furnace went out. Called the home warranty company and they said they would call out a service company that was a state away. They said it would be 2 - 3 days before they could come look. Me, the wife and kids, one of which was a month old, huddled up in the bedroom with an electric heater. Next day a buddy replaced a switch and all was good. Never called them for another thing.
