But in all seriousness, tomorrow is supposed to be the windy day in Eastern SD.

Looking and hearing the western folks, sounds like a derecho is coming across. Straight line winds over 100mph is no joke.

Trying to sell the house right now, so really hoping the old shitty fence survives another wind storm here. On the bright side the garage and house have a fresh roof so they should be safe??

I might fish a lake next few days. Whatever ice is probably gone with wind and mild temps. Might take a bit for the water quality to clear up.

It was touch and go for my fence for a couple of hours....In the 15 years we've had this house I have had to repair that damn fence like 4 time Looks like I skated by tonight. Hope everyone stays safe and warm.

It was breezy here as well. We are ready to put metal on a roof at work but decided this wasn’t the day. Stayed home and ‘held down the fort’.. literally!

We had a large Ponderosa pine blow over onto the house. Shattered 3 rafters and now we can sleep under the stars. Been trying to find people to remove the tree and a contractor to seal the roof. Looks like they will start in the morning. The forecast says possibly 1 to 3 inches of snow tomorrow. So much fun to look forward to. On the positive side we only lost power for 3 to 4 hours.

Got power back at 9:30PM. After getting all the appliance clocks reset, it died again for about 2 minutes. It's been on solid since 10PM.
16 hours without power. I was starting to ask around asking who had freezer space.

I just installed power loss alarms on our two freezers. My son came up the stairs at 0530 yesterday asking what they heck that shrill sound was. Thankfully he gets up at 0545 every day. At least I know they work. Kind of. They go to the Smartlife app on my phone. I wondered why they had not alarmed on my phone. No wifi. Brilliant design.

I had moved our cars out away from the driveway. We have a huge willow and several tall spruces close to the house. I was hoping they would fall away from the house and save me the inevitable labor of taking them down. They held. I was standing next to the willow at one point feeling the ground rising and falling. I posted a couple of year ago about the willow splitting in two in an ice storm. Man I hate burning willow and cottonwood.

House roof and deck metal rumbled but held. Old chicken coop corrugated tin did not. None flew away but several nails pulled out.

I haven't walked the property yet. I have no doubt we have plenty of chainsaw work ahead.

Drove into town to see if there was power in the small space we rent. (There was.) Emergency vehicles at a neighbor' s place. Not sure if this was wind related or not. I know my cortisol is off the chart when it blows like this. No HIPPA in a small town. We will hear all about what happened soon.

I'm in the middle of replacing the fire brick and secondary combustion tubing on our fireplace insert. So no back up heat. It got down to 50°F in the house. I would have been down there in a head lamp finishing that project if it had gotten too bad. Easier to drag out a sleeping bag and snuggle in. Much more worried about frozen pipes than our comfort. Alles gut.

We went to bed at 6:30PM. Now in two-sleep mode. Got things normalized, but too jacked up to go back to bed.

I offered to pack a bag. Felt bad for the boys last night we had a sitter and my wife’s Christmas party I had to sit it out. But I bet I’ll get to help the next couple days

Wind and snow stopped. Right at about 12 hours with no power now but the guys are out working on it and it’s slowly coming on around us. Little chilly in the house. Looks very drifty out there. Lots of shoveling later I think.
